Summary
Manages hospital pharmacy services. Establishes and upholds policies, procedures and standards for the provision of pharmacy services. Responsible for the medication use system in the hospital and clinics including drug procurement, purchasing, storage, sterile and non-sterile compounding in conformity with USP Chapters , and , labeling, packaging, nomenclature, drug distribution, prescribing, order verification and processing, filling of individual orders, managing drug information tools and resources (external and internal), infusion pump management, automation systems, clinical programs, electronic medical record maintenance (in conjunction with IT analysts) and quality assurance. Ensures compliance with all regulatory bodies including FDA, DEA, DOH, DNV, EPA. Develops systems for staff training and competency. Builds and develops teams effectively in order to accomplish departmental and organizational responsibilities and initiatives. Coordinates with outside departments to optimize pharmaceutical care of patients.
Position Reports To: Pharmacy Director
Essential Functions
Recruits, interviews, hires, orients, trains and competency-validates department staff. Develops standards of performance/departmental expectations. Ensures staff have the time, tools and training to meet expectations. Accomplishes through instructing, modeling, coaching and facilitation with staff. Evaluates the productivity and performance of the work unit through key performance indicators and optimizes as necessary. Serves as Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) for the hospital pharmacy license with the state department of health ensuring all RCWs, WACs, and other applicable laws are upheld. Serves as "Responsible Person" under USP , and . This may be delegated if approved by director of pharmacy. Ensures all department record keeping is on file and organized for efficient retrievability. This includes appropriate licenses, controlled substance invoices, cleaning logs, environmental testing reports for sterile compounding areas, unit-inspection forms, self-inspection forms, new employee training and competency checklists, CDTAs, annual required trainings (finger-tip, media fill, education modules, etc.) Completes self-inspection forms upon hire and annually in compliance with the Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission (PQAC). Executes all corrective action plans needed for regulatory compliance with DOH, DNV, or any other regulatory bodies. Ensures department is aligned with and makes contributions on Confluence Health strategic initiatives. Manages drug shortages in conjunction with purchasers, IT, clinicians and staff. Effectively leads relevant committees and workgroups as assigned by DoP (antimicrobial stewardship, P&T, residency advisory council, drug shortages, drug diversion, etc) Establishes medication safety as a top priority. This is accomplished through safety huddles, using errors as an opportunity for learning, promotion of event reporting, prompt response to employee concerns and implementing improvements to the medication use system. Communicates punctually and effectively with all stakeholders and levels of the organization. Uses data to evaluate performance of the medication use and operating systems. Builds and strengthens teammates by supporting fundamental needs, teaching, coaching and recognition as well as creating rational, clear and purposeful plans for the department. Completes meaningful performance evaluations in a timely fashion. Effectively prioritizes departmental activities and demonstrate resourcefulness for problem-solving. Managers are expected to be highly present in the department and pharmacy work areas. All work from home approved by director. Works with humility, integrity, courage and with a positive, can-do attitude. Ensures the department has sufficient equipment, supplies, and personnel to maintain an effective and efficient operation. Effectively communicates with director any needs, challenges, risk points of the department. Supports ASHP-Accreditation of PGY-1 Residency Program including direct preceptorship of residents. Manager may serve as Residency Program Director or Residency Program Coordinator. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required:
- Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy.
- Active Pharmacist License in Washington State.
- Sufficient experience as staff pharmacist in a hospital or similar institution.
- 4 years recent hospital-based experience and at least 2 of those years with leadership responsibilities OR a PGY2 in Pharmacy Administration.
- Must possess basic computer skills related to Windows portfolio (Excel, Outlook, Word, Powerpoint).
Desired:
- ASHP-Accredited PGY1Residency Training.
- PGY2 Residency in Administration.
- Board Certification.
- Masters' degree (MS, MPH, MHA, MBA).
