Job Description
The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is looking for an individual with strong experience in multi-modal transportation planning and interpersonal skills to serve as the statewide Long-Range Planning Manager. The primary role of this position will be to guide the development and update of UDOT's Long-Range Transportation Plan.

Principal Duties
As the Long Range Planning Manager, you will:
  • Take the lead in the development of the Statewide Long-Range Plan.
  • Act as a key interface with UDOT's MPO partners in the development of their Regional Transportation Plans.
  • Represent UDOT on Unified Plan sub-committees.
  • Manage projects and convey findings and recommendations to leadership and external stakeholders and partners.
  • Collaborate with applicable agencies/organizations.
  • Work on the Capacity Project Prioritization Process as it relates to the Long Range Plan and Unified Plan.
  • Lead planning process improvements efforts.
  • Supervise one or more positions in the Planning Division.
  • Coordinate within UDOT and with other agencies on compliance with air quality regulations.
  • Work with internal and external partners related to air quality conformity for both urbanized and rural areas.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must have:
  • A bachelor's degree or higher in Planning, Public Administration, or a related field of study OR equivalent experience.
  • At least six (6) years of planning or other related experience, four (4) of which must be in transportation planning.

Preferences
Preference may be given to those with at least one of the following:
  • At least two (2) years of experience leading collaborative, multi-agency planning processes and studies.
  • At least two (2) years of project management experience.
  • A working understanding of air quality conformity issues and requirements.

  • Use logic to analyze or identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts associated with information or data
  • Proficient in the use of modern office software suites
  • High-level understanding of travel demand modeling
  • Ability to perform basic data analysis, including using GIS applications
