QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCES:
In coordination with the school's Performing Arts Coordinator and under the direction of the school principal, performing arts teachers at the Performing Arts School on Broadway (PASB) plan instruction, design coursework, and deliver a comprehensive performing arts program to all students. Students at all levels are offered two electives periods each day throughout the year. Courses at PASB include instruction and experiences in music, dance, theater, and technical theater. Performing Arts courses include "Studio" classes - instruction in a particular type of performing art: acting techniques, music theory and production, construction practices and safety in technical theater, etc. - and "Production" classes - preparing for annual mainstage productions during rehearsals, production design (set, lighting, and sound design), set construction, etc.
PASB's Mainstage Productions include 3 annual shows for each school level (middle and high school). Each year all students participate in a play, a musical, and a showcase. The performing arts team plans for each of these events, provides instruction for students to be successful in these productions, and collaborates in the direction of each show.
The majority of PASB's performing arts program occurs during the school day (All Mapleton Public Schools secondary students may participate in extra-curricular performing arts programs through a district program). However, the performing arts team collaborates during "plan time", staff work days, and professional development days, to ensure a cohesive and meaningful performing arts experience for PASB students.
Competitive applicants may be able to offer instruction in more than one area of the performing arts (acting, vocal music, instrumental music, technical theater, dance, etc.). Ideal candidates have industry experience in theater, music, dance, design, and/or construction, etc. as appropriate. Ideal candidates thrive in a collaborative environment, working on a team to bring an idea from conception to design to production and to public presentation.
PASB is a non-audition, public school dedicated to offering quality performing arts instruction and experiences to all students. Paramount in this dedication is the belief that while the performing arts is a thriving industry and offers multiple meaningful career paths, the vision of PASB is to inspire a love of learning and teach skills in creativity, communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and leadership. We believe students prepared in this way will find success in their chosen path and become the leaders who change the world.
