The New Mexico State Investment Council (SIC) is a Sovereign Wealth Fund (SWF) that manages the investments for New Mexico's four permanent funds: the Land Grant Permanent Fund, the Severance Tax Permanent Fund, the Tobacco Settlement Permanent Fund, and the Water Trust Fund.

Why does the job exist?
This position will support the Private Equity Asset Class Director in developing quantitative models and analytical processes to support and improve investment decisions, assist in due diligence, review and selection of new managers and investments. The position requires a significant degree of quantitative and qualitative analysis, monitoring and documentation of managers and investments within those portfolios.
How does it get done?
Works at the direction and supervision of the Private Equity Asset Class Director to perform the following duties for portfolio construction within the private equity markets:
- Research, analyze, monitor and participate in the selection, maintenance and liquidation of fund managers and investments.
- Establish policies for portfolio management and develop a comprehensive risk management system.
- Remain abreast of current market conditions and best practices in portfolio investments.
- Monitors portfolios, overseeing draw downs, and preparing performance reports.
- Participates in the development of the Annual Investment Plan.
- Participate in the broad day to day management of the permanent fund.
Who are the customers?
The constituents of New Mexico, Private Equity Asset Class Director, as well as the Deputy and State Investment Officers.
Ideal Candidate
- Broad experience in research and research processes
- Experience or familiarity with financial markets and institutional investments
- Experience in working with large amounts of data and report generation
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Management and Administration, Applied Mathematics, or Statistics and four (4) years of work experience in institutional investing, pension fund management, trust fund management, or applied mathematics. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling eight (8) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License and must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Work is usually performed in an office setting, with extensive exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT), personal computer, tablet, printer, calculator, hole-punch, cellphone, copy machine, scanner, keyboard, and telephone usage. Sitting for long periods of time, bending, stooping to file, and occasionally lifting a minimum of 25 pounds. Some travel required.
