Our Impact:
The Investments & Capital Markets Division is responsible for executing liquidity, financing, credit risk transfer and derivative transactions as well as managing Freddie Mac's portfolio of single-family securities and loan investments in the retained portfolio. We also lead certain enterprise-level functions related to financial/capital/risk forecasting, model governance, payments, counterparty risk and third-party risk.

You will work with a team to implement the Investments & Capital Markets Business Technology Office (I&CM BTO) - Business Engineering team. You will collaborate closely with the Financial Engineering, Data and Architecture, Enterprise technology teams and business partners.

This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $196,000 - $294,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.

Your Impact:

- Work on complex problems and provide technical solutions that are highly creative and innovative
- Analyze business requirements to develop technical and architectural roadmap
- Design and implement applications that enables and inspires other software engineers
- Identify, implement and govern best practices in software development
- Promote continuous integration and continuous delivery practices to help software development teams deliver code changes more frequently and reliably.
- Enhance software engineering metrics to drive operational efficiency and impact on the business
- Drive technical innovation and keep abreast of the industry trends in software engineering and help the organization to envision and adopt.
- Foster ongoing engineering transformation and continuous improvement, advocating for common engineering practices that focuses on efficiency, quality, resiliency, security and performance of the platform.
- Participate in code reviews and team mentorship as a skilled technical contributor
Qualifications:
- Over 12 years of experience in software development and engineering
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field
- Strong understanding of fixed income markets, particularly mortgage and debt securities, is highly preferred
- Proficiency in advanced Java and it's object-oriented principles
- Expertise with relational database schema design and maintenance
- Experience in building distributed and scalable trading platforms is preferred
- Experience in building event driven Position, Risk and P&L management system is preferred
- Experience with Agile and Scrum development methodologies
- Familiarity with containerization, microservices, AWS or cloud concepts
- Ability to understand and write code documentation that conveys your solution to others
- Ability to troubleshoot and optimize application for security and responsiveness
- Languages/Frameworks/Tools: Java EE, Spring, Distributed Caching
- Modern Tools: Gradle or Maven, Jenkins, Atlassian Suite (Jira, Bitbucket), Git, Junit or Mockito
- DBs: Relational databases like MS SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL

- Solid understanding of modern software engineering practices and iterative development approaches with an emphasis on Agile.
