Job Title: Director of Central Processing Department
Job Specialty: Nursing
Job Duration: 13-week contract, Temp-to-Hire Position
Shift: Day - 8x5 - 08AM
Guaranteed Hours: 40
Experience:
- Director-Level position with at least 7 years of current experience in a Central Processing Sterilization or Operating Room environment.
- Experience leading leaders and delegating to leaders and staff.
License:
- Certification as a Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician (CRCST) or Central Sterile Professional Department Technician (CSPDT) is required within 90 days of hire.
- Certification as a Certified in Healthcare Leadership (CHL) supervisor/manager is a plus.
Certifications:
- Must maintain certifications by obtaining the required CEUs each year through the certifying agency.
Must-Have:
- Bachelor's degree required.
Job Description:
- Maintain oversight of sterilization and high-level disinfection practices within the CPD department and satellite reprocessing locations.
- Serve as the subject matter expert in sterilization/high-level disinfection to ensure compliance with State, Federal, JCAHO, AAMI, AORN, CDC, and CMS regulations.
- Work with area managers to assess sterilization and high-level disinfection needs on a per-unit basis, providing sterilization materials, machinery if necessary, and staff to perform the processes.
- Provide leadership and direction in alignment with organizational and departmental philosophy and goals.
- Prepare yearly capital, expense, and personnel budgets for the central processing department and satellite reprocessing locations.
Human Resource Management:
- Accountable for the coordination and evaluation of unit personnel according to hospital and Nursing Division personnel policies.
- Act as a positive role model by adhering to hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
- Interview, hire, discipline, and terminate employees.
- Oversee the structured orientation program for all new personnel and ensure competency prior to independent practice.
Central Processing Flow Management:
- Accountable for the coordination and evaluation of practices for Central Processing.
- Assess and meet daily patient/surgeon case needs for Central Processing and satellite reprocessing locations.
- Hold staff accountable for implementing standards to comply with regulatory agency requirements and policies/procedures.
- Act as the subject matter expert in Infection Control, sterilization standards, and standards of practice for decontamination, reprocessing, and sterilization functions.
- Maintain effective communication methods for disseminating information such as new policies and procedures.
- Establish and maintain effective communication with other disciplines, ancillary personnel, and physicians.
- Compile and report on QA/QC processes and present findings in relevant meetings.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Supervision of CPD inventory including instrumentation and physical plant, along with processes for repair, reordering, organization, and storage.
- Fiscal/Budget management.
- Meet safety goals and ensure compliance.
- Promote professional development.
