Your Opportunity:

Under the direction of the Supervisor, Health Information Management, this position leads and supports the day-to-day coordination and efficient operation of Access and Disclosure (A&D) servicesfor Covenant Health, as well as education and support in collaboration with the Privacy office as it relates to the Health Information act. This position provides front-line leadership in the development, implementation, and reporting for access and disclosures and provides advice, technical expertise, and training. This A&D Lead is responsible for monitoring workload turnaround times (TAT), assigning A&D case work and providing orientation and training of new A&D Specialists and Clerical staff. This role oversees the daily operations of the A&D team, ensuring requests and activities are compliant with the Health Information Act (HIA) and other requirements as applicable. In addition to operational leadership and quality oversight of the A&D team and service, this position will also provide stakeholder consultation and support for questions relating to access and disclosure. Furthermore, providing education to stakeholders and monitoring the quick disclosure utilization and work queues is also in-scope. The Access and Disclosure Lead will support the Privacy Office with education, or other activities as required such as investigation support and audits. Occasional travel to other sites may be required.

Required Qualifications:
Required Qualifications: Diploma from an approved Health Information Management Professional (HIMP) Program is required. Registration with the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA) is required.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Graduate of an approved school for Health Information Management professionals. Minimum of 5 years' experience working in HIM within a complex health care environment. Minimum 3 years' experience working in Access and Disclosure and the Health Information Act (HIA). Active CHIMA (Canadian Health Information Management Association) membership, within a one-year period from date of hire. Medical Terminology Excellent English language skills in reading, writing, and oral communication required. Accurate keyboarding skills with a minimum typing speed of 45 wpm required. Facilitation and presentation skills/experience. Leadership skills, ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Ability to work independently and manage change. Ability to foster positive interpersonal and communication skills with health care providers, allied health care professionals, peers, departmental management, patients, law enforcement agencies, lawyers, and other COV clients. Ability to identify, mitigate, and manage risk in compliance with provincial and federal legislation, COV policy, and department procedures. Excellent working knowledge and experience using Windows-based computer applications and Microsoft office suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of experience in a leadership role. Experience in preparing adult educational material. Completion of a Privacy Course or Credential such as CIAPP.
