VRIFY is seeking an exceptional Senior Geodata Scientist to work under our Lead Geodata Scientist while also serving as the product owner for our geoscientific workflows. This dual role combines deep geoscientific expertise with advanced data science capabilities and product ownership responsibilities. You will be instrumental in developing and implementing innovative approaches to analyze geological, geophysical, and geochemical data while driving the workflow development that makes these insights accessible and actionable for exploration teams.
As a Senior Geodata Scientist, you'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including geologists, data engineers, and machine learning experts, to develop innovative solutions that unlock hidden potential in geological data. Key Responsibilities:
Data Science & AI Development:
- Implement and optimize machine learning solutions for complex geological problems including mineral exploration
- Design and maintain advanced analytics workflows for exploration data
- Develop effective feature engineering techniques for geological datasets
- Build and refine predictive models for mineral prospectivity mapping
- Contribute to innovative approaches for 3D geological modeling
- Execute integration strategies for multiple data types (geochemical, geophysical, structural)
- Ensure rigorous validation of geological interpretations and model outputs
Workflow Product Ownership:
- Create detailed user stories and technical requirements for workflow implementations
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure successful workflow deployment
- Establish metrics for measuring workflow effectiveness and adoption
Stakeholder Management:
- Serve as the bridge between technical teams and geological end-users
- Present workflow solutions and capabilities to internal teams and external clients
- Gather and synthesize user feedback to inform workflow improvements
- Train users on new workflow capabilities and best practices
- Support the Lead Geodata Scientist
- Document workflow processes and create user guides
Collaboration:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including ML engineers and data engineers
- Participate in industry events and knowledge sharing
- Mentor junior geodata scientists on workflow implementation
Qualifications
Experience:
- 7+ years of experience in geoscience with a strong focus on data analysis and modeling. 5+ years experience in data science and analytics applied to geoscience. Experience with product ownership.
Technical Expertise:
- Deep understanding of geological processes and mineral exploration techniques.
- Strong proficiency in Python for data analysis, machine learning, and geospatial modeling.
- Experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and spatial data analysis.
- Expertise in applying machine learning and statistical techniques to geoscientific data.
- Proficiency in 3D geological modeling software (e.g., Leapfrog, GOCAD).
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (i.e., AWS) and big data technologies for large-scale data processing.
- Experience with data visualization tools and techniques for complex geospatial data.
- Knowledge of remote sensing data analysis and interpretation.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and practices
- Additional qualifications in cloud computing, machine learning, or data engineering are highly valued.
Education:
- Master's or Ph.D. in Geoscience, Geostatistics, or related field, with a strong background in data science and analytics. Additional qualifications in data science or machine learning are highly valued.
Core Competencies:
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities, with a proven track record of innovative solutions in geodata science.
- Strong communication skills, capable of explaining complex geoscientific concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Leadership abilities, with experience guiding multidisciplinary teams on complex projects.
- Ability to bridge the gap between traditional geoscience and modern data science approaches.
