Responsibilities
You Will. . .
- Assist and support continuous improvement with safety policies, training, campaigns, and programs to reduce human risk, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws
- Provide leadership, direction, and subject matter expertise for safety and compliance (including driver minimum qualification standards, DOT driver qualification files, etc.)
- Ability to analyze and independently resolve a variety of difficult situations and problems using timely decision-making
- Partner and collaborate with all functional leaders to develop and manage safety and compliance resources, projects, and business decisions
- Design and execute injury prevention programs/initiatives to motivate and influence the creation of a world-class safety culture
- Analyze and identify trends that increase injury and accident frequency/severity; develop and assist in the implementation of training programs using the appropriate media
- Consistent engagement with our field teams to include field visits as needed
- This person must be organized, understand the basics of building a safety culture, OSHA, safety policies, and be capable of refining policies as business needs change over time
- Provide technical expertise and acts as a resource in the preparation of training materials regarding OSHA and driver safety
- Interpret and communicate regulatory requirements to management to ensure compliance
- Lead and oversee regular audits, inspections, and assessments to identify areas of non-compliance and develop corrective action plans
- Continually monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, recommending enhancements and innovations where necessary
- Lead and oversee investigations into workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses, determining root causes and developing preventative measures
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, injuries, and safety-related data, analyzing trends to identify areas for improvement

Qualifications
The Experience You Will Bring (Minimum Requirements):
- Bachelor or Advanced Degree preferred in EHS, Risk Management, Safety/Industrial/Environmental engineering field
- Experience in a distributed workforce matrix organization or similar industry-related experience
- Minimum of 8 years of experience as a safety professional
- Certified Safety Professional Designation or able to achieve in the first two years
- Ability to draft reports and correspondence with minimal direction
- Intermediate Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills
- Excellent organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a high-volume, fast-paced environment, maintaining attention to detail while meeting deadlines.
- Strong customer service skills to support interaction with multiple levels of the organization
- Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, Telematics, and other applicable health and safety standards
- A professional safety certification through a nationally recognized safety organization, such as the National Safety Council, or a college degree in Safety Management

- Ability to work in a matrix environment, get results, and drive change through others
- Effective oral and written communication skills as well as planning and organizational skills
- Ability to influence behavior through solid relationships and process focus
- Ability to effectively present results and recommendations to the senior-level leaders
- Actively drive performance and follow projects through to completion
- Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time
