Position Summary:

The Director of Civil Engineering's primary function is to oversee all Engineering operations within your local office. Additional responsibilities include workload allocation, training, professional growth, and supervision of technical staff members. The Director will also maintain existing client relationships, develop new client relationships, prepare proposals, and execute new contracts. You will be responsible for overall project schedules, budgets, and client expectations.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Effectively communicate with clients, contractors, and jurisdictional authorities throughout the duration of all projects
  • Reports to Service Sector Leader and collaborates with Directors in all Service Sectors
  • Manage and assure the technical quality and compliance with budgets and schedules of his/her own work products and the work produced by assigned technical resources.
  • Supervise and review the work performed and the work products produced (calculations, estimates, etc.) by staff to assure technical quality, high productivity and adherence to schedules and budgets.
  • Supervise assigned resources, and provides workload forecasting, manpower planning, staffing selection and performance feedback for assigned staff.
  • Ensure schedules and budgets are developed for all assigned projects.
  • Review and monitor actual performance against schedules and budgets on an ongoing basis.
  • Incorporates lessons learned from past projects into future estimates.
  • Continuously develop and apply advanced techniques and look for new and/or improved methods and procedures, as required.
  • Primary internal contacts are with entire organization through daily contact and problem- solving oriented team meetings. Key external contacts include industry, contractors, and vendors.
  • Comply with State and Federal regulations. Minimize legal exposure and/or risk and liabilities for the corporation.
  • Reviewing project requirements, RFP's and proposals
  • Manage multiple projects at different stages of development

Job Qualifications:
  • BS Civil Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Professional Engineers license
  • 10+ years of design experience related to site development
  • 5+ years management of technical staff
  • Experience in business development and client interaction
  • The ability to work collaboratively with other team members and clients
  • Demonstrate strong organizational, communication and computer skills
  • Autodesk Civil 3D preferred

Work requirements:
  • May require the ability to sit for long periods of time, stand, walk, and manipulate (carry, lift, move) light to medium weights of 10-30 pounds.
  • Ability to walk construction job sites and climb ladders is necessary.
  • Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate technical equipment, read technical information and to analyze complex data.
  • Occasional travel to offsite locations to perform work and work- related errands or to attend meetings may be required.
