Manchester School District is seeking an Assistant Superintendent of Middle Level Learning and Student Services

Start Date: 7/1/2025

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Meets New Hampshire requirements for Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent
  • Master's Degree with emphasis in curriculum and instruction and/or educational administration. Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies or Doctorate degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years (5) classroom experience
  • Minimum of three years (3) years of building level administrative/supervisory experience and/or district level experience that demonstrates capabilities in:
    • learning theories and instructional strategies
    • assessment of student achievement
    • teacher supervision/evaluation
    • Special Education law, policy and practice
    • Comprehension Guidance
    • Data driven decision making
  • Multilingualism preferred

Specific Core Functions:
  • Administers the mission and goals of the district.
  • The Assistant Superintendent-Student Services is not limited to: tasks with Student Services and Middle Level Learning.
  • Develops and Implements District educational philosophy, goals and objectives, into active terms that directly support the mission and vision of the district.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the Special Education and Guidance programs from the budgetary, administrative, and strategic standpoints.

Responsibilities of the Position:

Leadership
  • Supports Teaching and Learning Assistant Superintendent with instruction and curriculum for the District's Middle Schools.
  • Provides leadership, and support for the Middle School principals.
  • Involvement of various stakeholder groups including school employees, students,parents, community members and community partners.
  • Provides comprehensive oversight of the Special Ed and Guidance Departments.
  • Ensures the district/school objectives are aligned to state statutes and district policy as well as intervention practices that yield the highest standards of student achievement.
  • Provides leadership and oversight of the Executive Student Services, Director of Comprehensive Guidance.
  • Supports the superintendent in facilitation of community partner relationships.
  • Utilizes local state and national data and trends as well a state and local policy to maintain the department of Student Services.
  • Responsible for the daily management of issues.
  • Responsible for the creation and maintenance of internal communication systems allowing for effective district operation.
  • Assists with budget development regarding areas of responsibility.
  • Collaborates with appropriate staff to develop, maintain and revise systems and processes related to areas of responsibility.
  • Participates in the district-level decision process to establish and review the district's goals and objectives and instructional programs of the district.
  • Performs such duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent.
  • Supervises and evaluated Executive Director of Student Services, Middle School principals.


Responsibilities:

  • Prepares drafts of needed Board of School Committee (BOSC) policies, administrative rules, and status reports for the Superintendent's review and action.
  • Conducts staff meetings as needed to train, implement actions of the department.
  • Works collaboratively with the Executive Team and Teaching and Learning Team on integration of Special Education and Guidance.
  • Coordinates all projects that will provide information concerning the District's Student Services programming.
  • Assists in the determination of the types of programs needed by the middle schools and makes appropriate recommendations to teaching and learning that builds review selection and implementation teams.
  • Assists administration in budget development and long range financial planning for the department and responsibilities.
  • Coordination with Executive Team the work of all professionals, paraprofessionals and other staff members in the school District.
  • Organizes a variety of training programs for interns, practice teachers, paraprofessional personnel, and all personnel; devise and implement staff developments and problems of mutual interest with others in the field as needed for the Middle Schools.
  • Work cooperatively with other administration leaders in integrating and coordinating individual efforts into a unified program for the District.
  • Accepts from the Superintendent responsibilities that the Superintendent chooses to delegate to him/her, and assumes full responsibility for discharging them.
  • Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the Superintendent may assign.


Specified Length/Hours of Position:
  • This is a full year (228 day) full time, non-affiliated position.


Salary Range:
  • $140,000-$155,000
