The Department ofPediatrics at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria seeks aPediatric Hematologist/Oncologist for a position as Assistant/AssociateProfessor of Pediatrics either MD or MD/PhD to enhance a growing division. The main responsibility is to work as physicianscientist committing time and effort in basic/translational research in thelaboratory in field of pediatric oncology. The physician scientistwill be expected to engage in active collaborative research and build clinicaland/or translational research in the division. The physician scientist willhave access to existing lab space.
The position requires 3 years of Pediatrics Residencyand 3 years of Hematology/oncology Fellowship. The ideal candidate will be BC/BE in Pediatrics and PediatricHematology/Oncology and will hold or have applied for an Illinois physician'slicense.
Physician scientist will alsoengage in caring of inpatients and outpatients with a variety of pediatrichematologic and oncologic problems, including those followed in the St. Jude'sMidwest Affiliate. The individual hired to this position will: 1) See referralhematology/oncology consultations from throughout the Central Illinois Region.2) Fully participate in teaching programs in hematology and oncology forundergraduate medical students and residents and participate in theundergraduate, graduate, and continuing education programs of theDepartment. 3) Participate incooperative research efforts and clinical trials research protocols at St. JudeChildren's Research Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee and the Children's OncologyGroup (COG).

- Position includes dedicated time in the lab to conduct individual basic or translational research in pediatric oncology at University of Illinois College of Medicine, Peoria Campus.
- See referral hematology/oncology consultations from throughout the Central Illinois Region.
- Fully participate in teaching programs in hematology and oncology for undergraduate medical students and residents and participate in the undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education programs of the Department.
- Organize and conduct bench and/or clinical research in the field of pediatric hematology/oncology.
- Participate in cooperative research efforts and clinical trials research protocols at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee and the Children's Oncology Group (COG).
- Perform other duties of a university faculty member including committee assignments, curriculum development, student counseling, and administration, as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Eligible for licensure in Illinois.
- Board certified/eligible in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology
- 3 years of Pediatrics Residency and 3 years of Hematology/Oncology Fellowship
- MD/DO or equivalent
- Experience in basic/translational lab work.
