Job Description
Job Title: CT Technologist
Job Specialty: Radiology/Cardiology - CT Tech
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Day, 5x8-Hour (08:00 - 17:30), Monday-Friday
Guaranteed Hours: Not specified
Experience: Proficient in IV/Angio-cath starts and administration of contrast media via power injection. Must demonstrate specific normal and abnormal cross-sectional anatomy/pathology through the use of scan techniques, reconstructions, and 3D post-processing.
License: Licensed by the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging
Certifications: Must have a valid CPR card; needs ARRT (CT) registry. If not, must be ARRT (R), (N), or NMTCB certified or ARRT (RT) registered upon hire with documented CT Clinical Experience requirements, and must receive CT certification by the ARRT within 6 months of hire.
Must-Have: Epic experience required
Job Description:
Operate multi-slice CT Scanners to perform exams with accuracy and efficiency, using optimal skills and knowledge of equipment.
Evaluate anatomy and related pathologies for presentation to the Radiologist.
Demonstrate knowledge and skill in CT physics & radiation safety, exercising responsible judgment in patient care situations.
Prepare and instruct patients for diagnostic exams using age-appropriate communication skills.
Adjust scanning factors and patient positioning to eliminate or minimize artifacts due to patient habitus, motion, implants, or monitoring equipment.
Adhere to the ALARA principle to optimize exams for the highest image quality with the lowest possible radiation dose.
Perform all ranges of exams after completing technical competencies.
Stay informed on new CT technology hardware and software upgrades.
Verify complete documentation to provide accurate and timely service to customers.
Verify imaging order and protocol in the electronic medical record.
Correctly identify patients according to department patient identification policy.
Complete and accurately label images with patient demographics and other required documentation.
Follow through with scanning duties to ensure efficient completion of exams with correct data entry, billing, and image verification in PACS.
Prescreen patients for sensitivity & contraindications to contrast medications used during imaging exams.
Implement the correct types of contrast and injection factors on a case-by-case basis.
Generate CD or DVD of imaging exams as needed.
Provide personal and patient care and safety using professional judgment, adhering to established regulations, and following universal precautions for blood and body fluids.
Explain procedures to patients to assure clear answers to questions and to alleviate anxiety.
Maintain a clean work environment and report issues for ergonomic improvement.
Assist in scheduling examinations and collaborate with staff to plan patient schedules.
Utilize transportation systems for patient delivery and call for assistance when needed.
Participate in clinical research studies and teaching technical skills to students and residents.
Maintain a neat and clean work environment, adhering to infection prevention and control policies.
Perform quality control on diagnostic equipment and maintain a logbook for entries.
Practice professional communication, appearance, conduct, and attitude to gain respect and confidence from patients and co-workers.
Demonstrate flexibility with workload and maintain a positive attitude, handling stressful situations effectively.
Maintain job-required licensure and continuing education in Radiology & Healthcare.
