JOB SUMMARY
Franklin PUD is looking for a Community Relations Coordinator to join our team. This position is responsible for creating and managing external communication plans related to initiatives and services to our diverse community, as well as develop internal strategies to keep employees informed, aligned, and connected to our mission, vision, and values.

Target Salary Hiring Range: $75,848 - $94,810, annually.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Creation and execution of print, online, video, and social media content. Design, write and update communication materials including advertisements, brochures, presentations and safety documents, customer newsletters, fact sheets, blog articles, social media posts, and website content that communicates the District's initiatives and services. Ensure website content remains current. Assist in creation of press releases, as directed.
Collaborate across all District departments to facilitate the creation of employee-facing content. Assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive internal communications program with specific strategies and action plans to effectively communicate via District intranet, emails, video, printed materials, etc. Create innovative ways to connect, inform, and recognize employees.
Coordinate the development, integration, format, design, and release of internal content including the District's Strategic Plan, Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, employee newsletter, etc. to ensure they are high quality, up-to-date and consistent with brand and style guidelines.
Provide communications support to help drive the success of individual department projects as well as the District's Operating Plan goals.
Monitor social media sites for engagement opportunities. Provide timely responses to comments, direct messages, mentions and relevant keywords on social media. Monitor analytics and create reports detailing the successes and failures of communications campaigns and strategies.
Provide coverage for emergency communications as needed outside of normal business hours, including business disruption events.
Assist in creating communication plans, tactical calendars, timelines, and defined deliverables for assigned communication initiatives. Assess and report on the effectiveness of communication strategies.
Follow established timelines, processes and procedures as well as continually look for ways to improve overall processes.
Conduct follow-up evaluation of outreach efforts and event outcomes utilizing various resources to improve future outreach efforts. Recommend opportunities of engagement to maintain a positive public image for the District.
Represent the District at community events, trade shows, and school events. Build and maintain relationships with the press and key community partners.
Professional behavior: Understands and follows District/supervisor expectations regarding professional appearance, attendance, punctuality, scheduled and unscheduled time off, and appropriate use of District time, equipment, and resources. Maintains a record of attendance and availability necessary to provide adequate support to the department.
Performs other duties as assigned which may include working extended hours as needed to ensure deadlines are met.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education and experience: A degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related area preferred. Specific and focused training in publishing and presentation software is required. Five years of experience in communications, public relations or related field including photography and video abilities preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience that would provide necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities: Knowledge of and ability to perform word processing at an advanced level and use independent judgment and thinking to solve problems. Must possess strong organization skills and the ability to handle tasks concurrently and demonstrate flexibility. Proven ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
Responsibility for confidential matters: This position exercises independent judgment and discretion before releasing information to the public, press or employee audiences.
Responsibility for accuracy and effect of errors: Maintains a high level of accuracy. Errors in judgment can result in adverse public relations.
Responsibility for getting along with others: Has contact with customers, District departments, Commissioners, members of the press and other utilities. Must maintain a positive relationship with these entities.
Pressure of work: Pressure may occur in meeting workload schedules, prioritizing tasks and assignments and coordinating activities. Must have the ability to manage multiple projects that are timeline dependent.
Travel/Unusual working conditions: Travel may be required to attend training or meetings.
Bilingual ability (English/Spanish) highly desirable but not required.
A valid Washington State Driver's License is required.
