Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Staff Mission Assurance Engineer to join the Quality & Mission Assurance team located in Charlottesville/Waynesboro, Virginia*. In this role the Staff Mission Assurance Engineer will engage with program and engineering teams to define mission assurance program specifications and processes to ensure a successful green-field manufacturing & testing site launch. This role will utilize advanced product quality planning methods and tools to deploy on both current and emerging programs to support production and test readiness. The selected engineer will initially collaborate with quality engineering teams at other NG sites to ensure requirements capture and lessons learned are utilized for the new site. Following successful program launches, the Staff Mission Assurance Engineer will transition to relevant QMA sustainment activities through product LRIP and FRP lifecycle stages.
*Note: This position will start out in Charlottesville, VA for approximately 1 year, then will be located in Waynesboro, VA when the new facility is online.

Salary Range: $147,700.00 - $221,500.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

What You'll get to Do:
- Provide technical insight into verification & validation issues and develop ideas on how to address.
- Lead customer discussions to determine application of contractual and technical requirements.
- Leverage process capability metrics, data analytics, and customer feedback to assure program mission success.
- Lead problem solving efforts to reduce risk for product line start-up and execution.
- Recommend process improvements to produce lower cost/higher performing products.
- Play a key role in in laying the groundwork for a new NG manufacturing and test site.
Basic Requirements for Staff Engineer Mission Assurance:
A candidate, regardless of age and hiring source, must meet ALL of the below criteria
- ABET-accredited Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline and a minimum of 12 years of experience; 10 years with Master's Degree; 8 years with PhD.
- Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process and utilizing Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) tools such as PFMEA, GR&Rs, & Control Plans.
- Experience in high volume and automated manufacturing lines in Aerospace, Defense, and/or Electronics industries.
- Experience as a Quality or Mission Assurance team lead in current or past projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with facilitating structured problem-solving sessions using advanced methods, such as Shanin Red-X, Six Sigma, 8D.
- Experience with deploying, programming, and/or utilizing computerized measurement systems, such as CMM, 3DSL, AOI.
- Experience with AS9100 system auditing.
- Experience evaluating system components and assisting with KPC/KCC selection.
- Experience as a technical lead, Integrated Product Team (IPT) lead, manager or other leadership role in a program office or business function, engineering, manufacturing with demonstrated team building, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with evaluating contractual requirements and assessing/elevating program level risks & opportunities.
- Experience assessing maturity of new technology and manufacturing operations, TRL and MRL, for transition to scaled production.
- Experience with development of and use of data analytics tools for technical/business strategy development.
- Experience with domestic government agency and government laboratory engagements.
