The Opportunity:
Reporting to the President the overall mandate of the VP Sustainability is to lead execution of initiatives that underpin Canada Packers commitment to sustainability,
This role is high-impact, high-visibility and an outstanding opportunity for a leader who cares deeply about both environmental impact AND growth as well as the profitability of Canada Packers. The concept of Creating Shared Value is embedded in the three key accountabilities for the role; 1) Continue the development and commitment of Canada Packers as an environmental sustainability in the protein industry, 2) Lead and develop the team that maintains our carbon neutrality status and meets or exceeds our bold environmental footprint reduction goals; and 3) coordinate with functional departments across the business to manage our external facing sustainability-related engagements and communications. These include: annual sustainability report, associated disclosures, and engagement with customers, government entities, NGOs and other key stakeholders.
The role is part of Canada Packers Senior Management Forum and is a key member of the Safety, Sustainability and Animal Care leadership team.

A snapshot of some of the exciting things you will lead and do:
- Be a values-based leader of the core sustainability team, ensuring they have the right direction, priority, support, resources, and motivation to execute their annual and longer-term plans.
- Review develops and revise, as necessary, the core elements of the Carbon Management strategy, considering adjustments to our long-term climate action goals.
- Accountable to execute the Canada Packers offset procurement policy and maintain, on an annual basis, Canada Packers Carbon Neutrality position through active management of the Verified Emissions Reduction (VER) and Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) portfolios.
- As an active partner with operations leaders, ensure that the utility reduction roadmaps are understood, resourced, and actioned on an annual basis with a goal to overachieve our utility and emissions goals.
- Partner with the finance function to move the company toward integrated financial reporting, taking accountability for the core sustainability disclosures, and providing the necessary information and due diligence that will withstand scrutiny.
- Partner with key functional leaders (e.g., Animal Care, Health and Safety, Human Resources, Center for Food Security) to coordinate and strive for global leadership in these key focus areas of MLFs sustainability platform.
- Support the Sales and Marketing functions in building awareness and understanding among our customers regarding the CP sustainability journey.
- Build trusted partnerships with key federal and provincial partners, as well as key non-governmental agencies, that supports creation of sustainable and just food supply chains.
- On a quarterly basis, build timely and robust dashboard reporting to the Safety and Sustainability committee of the CP board of directors.

What you will bring:
- The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 10+ years of professional experience in industry post-degree and will have experience in a company with a mature and robust approach to environmental sustainability. A graduate degree in the environmental sciences will be viewed favorably. Strong critical thinking, business acumen, a passion for the environment is required, along with a proven ability to lead and inspire a team in a complex hands-on operating environment with multiple stakeholders. In addition, the candidate will have a demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate across functions and levels, to solve complex problems, gain alignment and execute with speed to deliver on priorities. Humility, courage, and interpersonal savvy are imperative to advocate for a just and sustainable future of our food supply chain, while operating in a highly competitive public company.
