About the position:

We are looking for an experienced Ocean Export Department Manager for our ocean export department. The Department Manager is responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the Ocean Export Department. Your position, together with your team is to ensuring client satisfaction and the regular flow of cargo while also ensuring that department billing, communications, and teamwork meet the high standards expected of our clients.

Traffic Manager responsibilities are:
To fully manage all aspects of the ocean export department. Duties shall include (but are not limited to):
  • Train and develop team members as needed
  • Develop, and mentor your subordinates
  • Ensure all staff and positions have job descriptions, clear expectations , and are working within a structured environment
  • Work with Quality Compliance to implement and maintain ISO9001 standards
  • Ensure standard operating procedures and Key Performance Indicators are defined and met
  • Review and participate in semiannual staff appraisals
  • Actively develop business for department through active involvement in sales and retention process
  • Complete at least 5 sales and/or retention calls per week
  • Ensure customer reviews are completed with regular clients
  • Ensure that clients receive the highest level of customer service by your team
  • Respond to requests for proposal, quotation or information timely and with market competitive pricing matching the scope of service required by the customer
  • Attend Accounts Receivable meetings and proactively work to maintain accounts payment within 30 days
  • Ensure company credit procedures are followed and utilized effectively
  • Manage accounts payable to vendors (ocean lines, truckers etc.)

Ensure any contracts, vendor, customer or other, are reviewed in accordance to company contract policies prior to being signed
  • Be open to implementing new system changes and enhancements into your department
  • Be involved and suggest system/process improvements
  • Anything else necessary to ensure a well-run department providing the highest level of service with overall goal of client retention and growth

Traffic Manager requirements are:
  • 5+ years of leadership experience
  • Phenomenal customer service skills and an aggressive, self-starting, positive 'can do' attitude.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, able to communicate and comprehend to obtain positive results
  • Strong Organizational Skills
  • Knowledge of various steamship lines, truckers and modalities for ocean bound cargo
  • Hazmat Training and Certification
  • Experience with CargoWise is a huge plus
  • Knowledge of filing and record keeping tasks
  • Accuracy, high performance and close attention to detail
  • This is an on-site position. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is a requirement.
