Summary:

To assist the program director in fulfilling the responsibility of promoting the educational well-being of each student in the school and to provide sound special educational programs for students.

Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in special education and/or leadership required
  • Eligible for a Virginia Collegiate Professional Certificate with an endorsement in one or more areas of special education and an endorsement as a principal or a supervisor
  • Three to five years of successful experience as a special education teacher
  • Leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary to work effectively with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and community in a public day special education school
  • Experience working in a regional program is preferred, yet not required


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • In collaboration with the program director, assist in the leadership of regional program operations related to curriculum and instruction and program development.
  • Assist with management/ ensure compliance of Special Education processes
  • Assists program administrator in management of office, clerical personnel, and other staff.
  • Assists program director in maintaining proper discipline for the students.
  • Supervises extracurricular and co curricular activities.
  • Assists program director in administering division policies.
  • Attends meetings as designated by program director.
  • Responsible for continued operation of the school unless other arrangements have been made in the absence of the administrator and or superintendent.
  • Visits classrooms regularly for the purpose of evaluation and improvement.
  • Assists in providing in-service education for the faculty.
  • Assists the administrator in the employment, assignment, and orientation of personnel.
  • Participates in the preparation of schedules for staff and student activities.
  • Assures the safety of all students and personnel in the case of fire, other disasters or emergencies.
  • Maintains open lines of communication between the school and the home and arrange parental conferences when needed or requested.
  • Serves as an LEA designee for special education functions.
  • Other duties as may be assigned through the immediate supervisor.

Pay Rate:

The salary range is $82,000-$138,342

Contract:
Full time / 12 months / 245 days

Start Date:

This position is effective for the 2024-2025 school year. Applicants for the 2025-2026 school year will also be considered.
