Job Summary: We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Technical Instructor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HVAC, mechanical systems, electrical controls, and thermodynamics. The instructor will be responsible for developing and delivering curriculum, conducting hands-on training, and assessing student performance.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Designs and develops comprehensive training materials, modules, and curricula focused on commercial HVAC systems HVAC systems, mechanical systems, electrical controls, and thermodynamics principles.
- Conducts engaging, in-person training programs and sessions including practical hands-on demonstrations using industry-standard equipment and tools.
- Prepares, maintains, and updates training materials, equipment, and tools.
- Assesses and evaluates student performance through exams, assignments, and practical tasks, identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Stays current with industry trends, safety regulations and advancements in commercial HVAC technologies to continuously update and improve training programs.
- Integrates workplace safety protocols and best practices into all training programs to promote a safety-first culture.
- Collaborates with other internal groups to ensure that all subject matter is accurate.
- Understands and ensures regulatory standards, including ASHRAE, ANSI, AHRI, UL, and ISO.
- Provides guidance and mentorship to students on their career development.
- Maintains accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
- Collaborates with colleagues to improve teaching methods and enhance student success.
- Ensures all training activities comply with safety regulations and standards.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proven experience in teaching or training facilitation in a technical field.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, mechanical systems, electrical controls, and thermodynamics.
- Excellent communication skills and comfortable speaking to large groups of people.
- Ability to simplify complex concepts and make them understandable to students.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with industry advancements. Excellent people skills.
- Passion for teaching and learning.
Work Environment:
- Candidates must be able to present materials in a classroom or lab setting, adhering to all classroom etiquette, as well as AAON policies.
- Standing for long periods of time.
- Travel to other facilities and off-site locations as needed.
