Foran Mining Corporation (TSX:FOM) is a forward-thinking mining company redefining the industry. We are seeking a Mine Controller to join our growing McIlvenna Bay team. This is a full-time position based primarily at the Saskatoon office with period travel to the McIlvenna Bay site. The frequency of travel will vary based on business needs but could be approximately one week per month.

The McIlvenna Bay Cu-Zn-Au-Ag deposit is one of the largest undeveloped VHMS deposits in Canada. Foran recently announced (2024) approval by the Board of Directors for the project to proceed to the formal construction phase with initial production expected in Q4 2025. The McIlvenna Bay deposit's core commodities are critical for the global transition to green energy and Foran aims to extract these critical minerals in a sustainable manner by empowering local communities, contributing to circular economies and protecting the environment for future generations.

As part of the Financial Team, this position will report to the General Manager of McIlvenna Bay, with functional accountability to the Vice President Finance. The Mine Controller will be a qualified and experienced accounting professional whose primary responsibility is to manage the daily operations of the accounting department. This involves supervision of the accounting team, managing the monthly period-end close, preparation of monthly reports and working closely with mine management and corporate accounting staff in the completion of financial reporting objectives.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Supervision of the accounting department which includes the following:
  • Mine site accounting of general, capital, and project accounting
  • Payroll administration
  • Accounts payable
  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department including:
  • Month-end close process and preparation of monthly reporting
  • Accounts payable
  • General ledger maintenance and reconciliation
  • Fixed asset reconciliations and project cost tracking
  • Support budget management including actual and cost review
  • Oversee the day-to-day accounting of the operations, ensuring all transactions are managed in accordance with the Company's defined governance policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with site management to facilitate the completion of monthly reporting and assist with variance analysis within departments.
  • Works closely with mine site and corporate accounting staff towards the completion of monthly financial reporting objectives and to adhere to IFRS and company policies.
  • Coordinate and complete external and internal audit reviews including auditor requests of financial and operational information.
  • Implement, maintain, and continuously improve the output from company's ERP (Pronto Xi ERP). Involvement in defining business processes and workflows associated with the Company's ERP system.
  • Facilitate a robust internal and external financial reporting cycle and provide technical (financial reporting) guidance to the operational staff when required.
  • Liaise with the mine's procurement team to ensure compliance with delegation of authority as it relates to contracts and reporting processes as well as efficient deployment of the company's working capital.
  • Interact and provide direct support to senior executives and management on finance related matters.
  • Ensure compliance with Foran Mining and IFRS reporting requirements, corporate accounting standards and statutory financial obligations.

Job Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in accounting, finance or related field.
  • Professional designation: CPA (or CA, CGA, CMA)
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively senior level experience in finance within the resource industry.
  • Experience in implementation of ERP systems considered an asset. Good working knowledge of SAP, Pronto Xi or similar ERP.
  • Have excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and able to liaise with other departments as well as external parties.
  • Ability to mentor, manage and motivate staff.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills, critical thinking and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks to meet both internal and external deadlines.
  • Proven experience with successfully leading and negotiating commercial contracts.
  • Mining industry experience preferred.

Compensation and Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary range of $127,000 - $146,000/year based on experience and qualifications. Annual discretionary short term incentive award at a percentage of base salary, rewarding exceptional contributions to team and company success.
