Position Summary: The Project Engineer is responsible for overseeing project designs and ensuring their accuracy and quality. This role involves managing the work of Engineers in Training (EITs) and Design Drafters, maintaining efficiency and accountability, and serving as a key collaborator with the Project Manager. The Project Engineer ensures all designs meet required standards and may also fulfill a dual role as Project Manager when needed. The Project Engineer reports directly to the Project Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design Oversight: Oversee project designs to ensure quality, compliance, and alignment with project objectives.
  • Task Assignment: Assign tasks to Engineers in Training (EITs) and Design Drafters while providing clear expectations.
  • Accountability Management: Hold EITs and Design Drafters accountable for completing tasks efficiently and on schedule.
  • Team Leadership: Maintain accountability and ensure adherence to deadlines for all team members under your supervision.
  • Progress Updates: Communicate regularly with the Project Manager regarding project progress, challenges, and invoicing updates.
  • Quality Assurance: Act as the second set of eyes to verify that designs are accurate and correct.
  • Stamping Designs: Approve and stamp final project designs, ensuring compliance with engineering standards.
  • Dual Role Flexibility: Perform the role of Project Manager as needed, supporting project oversight and execution.
Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field required.
  • Experience: Demonstrated experience in engineering design and project execution.
  • Licensing: Professional Engineer (PE) licensure required.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.) and engineering tools.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to mentor and guide team members.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with team members, clients, and management.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in reviewing and approving project designs.

  • Problem-Solving: Ability to resolve technical challenges and ensure the successful completion of designs.
Work Environment

The Project Engineer role primarily operates in an office environment, with occasional site visits or fieldwork required.
Physical Requirements

This position may occasionally require lifting up to 25 pounds, standing or walking for extended periods, and working in varying weather conditions during site visits. Reasonable accommodations can be made for individuals with disabilities.

Salary: $90,000- $115,000 annually, Depending on Experience (DOE)
Location: Blackfoot, ID
Schedule: Changes depending on the job. Travel required (75%).
