Job Title: Environmental Laboratory Specialist
Job Description: As a member of the Research and Development team, the Environmental Laboratory Specialist is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all analytical instrumentation to support new product development, research efforts to refine the use, understanding, and formulation of existing REGENESIS technologies, and Lab Services needs, including FluxTracer. In addition, this position will assist in carrying out specialized laboratory experiments to test and validate new and existing technologies.

Job Description: As a member of the Research and Development team, the Environmental Laboratory Specialist is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all analytical instrumentation to support new product development, research efforts to refine the use, understanding, and formulation of existing REGENESIS technologies, and Lab Services needs, including FluxTracer. In addition, this position will assist in carrying out specialized laboratory experiments to test and validate new and existing technologies.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot all laboratory instrumentation including GC-MS, GC-FID/ECD, and HPLC
- Develop and improve laboratory and analytical methods as needed
- Develop and author standard operating procedures
- Coordinate with 3rd party analytical labs and analyze data
- Stay up-to-date with new analytical techniques and methods
- Help develop, organize, and execute laboratory experiments in support of current and developing product lines and technologies
- Analyze results and summarize experimental data in graphs or reports for R&D management
- Conduct literature reviews
- Document all procedures, data, and results in notebooks
- Follow laboratory compliance and safety policies
- Perform other duties or special projects as assigned
Qualifications:
- M.S. in chemistry or similar with an emphasis in analytical chemistry, preferably with a background in environmental chemistry testing or B.S. in chemistry with at least 4 years of experience in an analytical role
- At least 2 years experience in environmental industry or chemical research
- At least 4 years of experience with Shimadzu and/or Agilent GC-MS/FID instrumentation including maintenance and method development
- Knowledge and experience in a wide range of wet chemistry laboratory practices including handling of volatile chemicals
- Familiarity with EPA test methods
- Must be highly organized, collaborative, self-motivated, and team-oriented
- Ability to organize and critically evaluate large data sets
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
