Description:

Meta seeks a talented product attorney to serve as Associate General Counsel/Lead Counsel supporting Meta's rapidly growing AI glasses business. This role is product-focused and will involve close coordination with engineering, business, policy and other cross-functional partners to advise on a broad range of issues globally to support upcoming smart glasses projects for Reality Labs. We are looking for a candidate who has a solid understanding of laws and principles as they apply to consumer electronics products, is motivated, collaborates well and can practically weigh and manage legal risks. Success in this position will require applying a complex and evolving global legal framework to new and innovative devices and services. This is a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge issues in a fast-paced environment.

Lead Counsel, Reality Labs Responsibilities

  • Work directly with business and technical teams to build your product knowledge and use that knowledge to coordinate providing front-line legal and strategic business advice regarding AI glasses across multiple jurisdictions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners and subject matter experts both within Meta's legal department (such as privacy, compliance, and competition) and across the business (such as policy, communications, and marketing) to analyze and communicate legal risks
  • Provide product, engineering, policy, and other business teams with legal advice relating to product development and data collection across many subject areas, including consumer protection laws, data protection laws and regulations, and international competition law frameworks
  • Evaluate, draft, and negotiate contracts relating to strategic partnerships and services integrated into our AI glasses
  • Build positive and influential relationships with executives, product teams, and peers across the Reality Labs organization in Meta


Minimum Qualifications

  • J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent)
  • Active membership in at least one US state bar and eligibility to obtain registered in-house counsel status (if required by the State Bar in the assigned work location)
  • 5+ years years of legal experience as a practicing attorney, including at a law firm and/or in-house or government experience
  • Demonstrate business judgment and client counseling skills
  • Effective communication skills


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience product counseling, especially on privacy, data protection, youth, or integrity issues
  • Experience advising on media, internet, or technology companies, preferably consumer electronics or wearable technologies

$198,000/year to $266,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
