Job Description

SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Dean, Feliciano School of Business, the Assistant Dean, Finance and Administration, Feliciano School of Business oversees the school's annual budgets and financial management, human resources, physical facilities and procurements. The Assistant Dean works closely with a variety of academic departments and areas to ensure compliance with university policies and processes. This role also serves as a financial liaison to University Finance and Administration, Academic Affairs and University Facilities while playing a strong role in strategic planning and preparation.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Advise the Dean and senior staff on financial matters related to day-to-day and longer-term operations and improvements; enable and oversee compliance with University financial policies and procedures.
  • Work with school units on annual budget projections and preparation.
  • Provide recommendations on resource requests and allocations; monitor quarterly budget reports, implement adjustments as needed, and assist in addressing unit financial issues.
  • Support personnel in hiring and compensation-related matters as they relate to budgets.
  • Work in cooperation with the school's Development Director, the University's Foundation Office and others to help ensure effective use of gifts and scholarship endowment funds, including multi-year planning and uses of funds, term gifts, and operating budget sources for student scholarships.
  • Oversee scholarship administration and ensure compliance with donor restrictions, research and audit fund uses.
  • Work with academic departments on budget sources for faculty led experiential learning opportunities.
  • Oversee faculty and staff travel approvals and documentation.
  • Coordinate new hire promotions and salary increase processes, while ensuring that human resources transactional documentation is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assist Deans in accounting and cost projections for staff and faculty additions, salary adjustments, and related matters.
  • Ensure compliance with University human resources policies and procedures.
  • Counsel the Dean, Associate Deans, Department Chairs, Program Directors and other staff on personnel related matters in partnership with Human Resources team.
  • Partner with school leadership to support the business and educational operations of the school, maximizing the value of data and processes.
  • Coordinate, support and provide reporting to Dean and senior staff related to undergraduate online programs.
  • Participate in campus and system-wide projects and committees as appropriate.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.
  • Minimum five (5) years of professional experience in the development and management of budgets and financial reporting.
  • Strong experience with spreadsheets, data analysis, presentation software, and visual analytics tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a wide array of responsibilities including finance and human resources
  • Experience working with large, complex, and diverse data sets from multiple sources and formats.
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative, matrixed environment and build relationships of trust with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of delivering reporting solutions and meeting diverse stakeholder needs.
  • Outstanding project management experience with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects to completion.


PREFERRED:
  • Master's degree from an accredited university or advanced business degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • Seven (7) years of professional experience in the development and management of budgets and financial reporting.
  • Knowledge of University administrative systems and procedures preferred.
  • Experience in higher education leadership is strongly preferred.
