What You'll Do:

Responsible for overseeing and guiding the medical operations serving clients across all levels of care, including but not limited to inpatient, outpatient, residential, and community-based programs. The Medical Director ensures the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based psychiatric and behavioral health services while promoting a culture of excellence, collaboration, and patient-centered care. This position will demonstrate a commitment and provide leadership for SummitStone Health Partner's values by delivering visionary and operational leadership while fostering trust, collaboration, and a diverse and inclusive environment.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Establish practice standards that ensure medical resources are utilized at an optimal level while overseeing the clinical integrity of the overall organization and promoting the application of evidence-based practices in a managed care environment. This includes but is not limited to planning, developing, and implementing medical treatment services and evaluating services to ensure optimal client care and organizational goals are met.
  • Lead agency efforts in establishing equitable, productive bed-based care services offering acute and residential care for those with mental health and substance use conditions serving adolescents and adults.
  • Lead agency efforts in establishing other innovative care delivery models including Opioid Treatment Program, rapid access to SUD/MAT care, and outpatient SUD care.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor policies, procedures, and treatment protocols to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as accreditation standards including CARF.
  • Supervise and mentor a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, practitioners, and physicians and evaluate staff based on established performance standards and feedback from clinical leadership.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, specialists, and cross functional leaders in developing effective treatment programs for behavioral health.
  • Attend management meetings, staff meetings and inter-agency meetings as required.
  • Provide direct patient care as needed, including psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and crisis intervention. Maintain up-to-date and accurate clinical records and prepare statistical and analytical reports, as necessary.


Education and Experience:
  • Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school required
  • More than five years of clinical or administrative experience in a healthcare organization or related field required
  • More than three years of leadership experience required
  • Significant experience with addiction medicine and administration of medication assisted treatment and management of a variety of conditions (substance use disorder, tobacco use disorder, other chronic health conditions) required
  • More than five years administrative experience in a healthcare organization or related field, to include demonstrated leadership required
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be evaluated and considered


Licenses and Certifications:
  • Unrestricted medical License and License for any state from where telehealth services are provided required
  • Active DEA License required
  • Have board certification in one or more of the following specialties: family medicine, addiction medicine, psychiatry, physician assistant, advanced practice nursing required
