Job Description
Newborn Screening Quality Assurance Manager(Microbiologist III)
Are you CLIA qualified and have experience in quality assurance management within a laboratory setting? If yes, them come join us at the Utah Public Health Laboratory as a Newborn Screening Quality Assurance Manager!

Job Responsibilities
  • Manage the Newborn Screening Laboratory for quality and compliance using a suite of software tools to ensure adherence to regulatory standards and best practices
  • Monitor staff competency completions
  • Create, update and review all technical supervisor documentation checklists
  • Monitor and document preventative maintenance of laboratory equipment and instruments
  • Review the progress of all the corrective action reports
  • Communicate with the NBS leadership team review updates, setbacks, delays and problems
  • Discuss with the NBS leadership team new implementation for quality assurance
  • Prepare and schedule meetings with the Laboratory CLIA Director and the NBS leadership team
  • Register, document and submit quarterly proficiency testing
  • Register, monitor and submit CDC quality control samples
  • Prepare all the required documentation for a CLIA survey
  • Occasionally cover shift if testing personnel is absent

Minimum/Required Qualifications:
  • Must meet CLIA required qualifications
  • Quality assurance management experience in a laboratory setting

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Meets CLIA required qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, biochemistry, analytical chemistry, or other life science disciplines; OR equivalent experience
  • Supervisory experience
  • Molecular and/or biochemical clinical testing experience

Other Requirements:
  • Due to the nature and types of testing samples this position requires compliance with the Utah Department of Health & Human Services Employee Immunization policy.
  • Continued employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a fingerprinting background check.

Schedule:
  • On site typically Monday - Friday from 8:00AM to 4:30PM
  • Work on occasional weekends and holidays will be required, however is often remote.
