Compensation:
- Pay Rate: $65-70/hr, (range based on skills and years of experience.)
Location Details:
- 80% - 100% remote within the United States
- Hybrid work environment with occasional on-site requirements
- Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
- Core Hours: 8 AM - 5 PM CST, excluding state holidays
- Some work outside normal business hours may be required, including weekends, evenings, and holidays
About the Role:
A government agency is seeking a Senior UX Designer to enhance user experience across digital platforms and applications. The role focuses on designing user-centered solutions that improve education technology integration and support key stakeholders such as parents, teachers, schools, and district leaders. The ideal candidate will work independently, using strong judgment and initiative to ensure design decisions align with user needs and industry best practices.
Responsibilities:
- Lead UX/UI design efforts to create intuitive and accessible digital experiences
- Develop user research strategies and translate findings into user stories, requirements, flows, wireframes, and prototypes
- Conduct usability testing to refine product designs based on user feedback
- Collaborate with product teams, developers, and senior leadership to ensure user-centric design solutions
- Ensure compliance with federal accessibility guidelines and industry design standards
- Use design tools such as Figma (or similar software) to create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in software product development, digital design, or UX/UI
- Strong portfolio demonstrating user research, visual design, and usability testing
- Experience designing wireframes and mockups following UX best practices
- Ability to conduct user and usability research
- Excellent written, communication, and facilitation skills
- 4+ years of experience leading large-scale UX/UI projects
- Proficiency in design tools such as Figma (or equivalent)
- 3+ years of experience ensuring compliance with federal accessibility guidelines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Atlassian Jira for issue tracking
- Experience working with state or local education agencies
