Job Summary
Under direction, is responsible for performing a range of systems administration activities that include troubleshooting, installing, upgrading, and configuring assigned operating system(s), and providing reliable daily systems maintenance, evaluation and support; performs related duties as required. The position works with internal customers to maintain a network update schedule and works to resolve security issues with the City's computer systems. The position also assists in the management and maintenance of a variety of Microsoft Server roles.
Starting Salary Range: The starting salary is between the minimum and midpoint of the range ($66,955.20 - $82,014.40). Candidates will start at the minimum of the range unless their skills, experience, education, or other factors exceed the qualifications for the position.

A typical way to qualify is bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience and two (2) years' experience and responsibility with Microsoft System administration, Active Directory, Group policy, SAN environments, virtual environment, holistic system security.
Licensure or Certification Requirements
Current and valid Ohio driver's license with an acceptable drivers abstract in order to meet criteria for insurability established by the City of Gahanna. Industry recognized certifications are preferred.

Essential Job Functions
- Assists in the management, troubleshooting and maintenance of a variety of Microsoft Server roles including Active Directory, MDT, DHCP, DNS, Group Policy, Print Server, SQL, and IIS.
- Maintains day-to-day operation of operating systems (OS) including but not limited to upgrades, systems backups and recovery, user accounts, security logs, shell scripting, and systems health status.
- Analyzes and resolves problems associated with server hardware and operating systems software; detects, diagnoses, reports, and/or corrects system/server problems; communicates with programmers and other IT staff to resolve these issues; closes help desk tickets as maintenance work is completed and/or problems are resolved.
- Assists in the management of M365 (Exchange, Entra, Azure, Purview, and Security).
- Coordinates and communicates network maintenance schedule, repairs, and downtime to appropriate staff for communication to clients/users; coordinates hardware and software repair issues in conjunction with support personnel.
- Monitors, analyzes, and resolves security issues regarding computer system; evaluates and installs security patches; remains current on operating system vulnerabilities.
- Installs new hardware and software packages; modifies and adapts software features and structures to meet the needs of the clients; provides technical assistance to clients and end-users.
- Writes system documentation, program specifications, production procedures, and/other documentation that may include user manuals and instructions; maintains accurate documentation and administrative information for the operating systems.
- Participates in Citywide information technology projects.
- Confers with management to determine user requirements, procedures, and problems in order to improve efficiency and effectiveness of existing operating systems or to create new systems; researches, analyzes and tests application or system software for compatibility and capability to perform necessary job assignments.

Working Conditions:
- Working time may require irregular hours, and/or on-call status.
