Job Description

STC is a science and engineering research and services support company with proven expertise and experience spanning research, development, test, and evaluation in areas including aerospace engineering, earth and atmospheric sciences, chemical and biological defense, military systems and technology, and software development.

Responsibilities:
Serve as project manager and lead an interdisciplinary team. Will coordinate with the customer and lead / manage personnel and tasks. Perform olfactory sciences research and development for the detection and identification of chemical, biological, and explosive (CBE) materials, including the use of working animals.

Develop solutions for sensors, biosensors, sensor calibration, sampling, detection, identification, protection, and decontamination.
  • Design, develop, and improve point and stand-off detection and identification systems for CBE
  • Support CBE scent detection studies for Military Working Dogs (MWD) and other working animals
  • Research may include low-visibility sampling, collection, and analysis
  • Develop/improve CBE training aids, inert training aids, and/or training aid containment systems
  • Plan and support operational exercises such as counter improvised-explosive device (IED) tests, MWD search pattern optimization, battlefield sensor integration and demonstrations
  • Remain current on related subjects in the literature and news.
  • Contribute to presentations, technical reports and research publications.


Compensation & Benefits:
  • Pay: $100 - $140
  • Schedule: 40 hours per week
  • 401K with up to 4% employer matching contribution

Job Requirements

Education:
  • Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Bioengineering or a related discipline. MS acceptable with additional experience

Job Requirements
  • U.S. Citizen eligible for a security clearance
  • 2 years' research experience related to olfactory science, CBE sensors, or the use of working animals to identify CBE materials
  • 5 years of experience managing research projects and teams
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new skills quickly, multitask, and complete work within schedule

Bonus points if you have:
  • Experience field testing of sensors/systems
  • MWD or working animal research project experience
  • DoD Secret clearance
