The Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine (LSOM) Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB/Gyn) seeks to identify a Board-Certified Obstetrician Gynecologist interested in academic medicine and serving in the additional administrative role of Vice Chair for OB/Gyn Clinical Operations. The preferred candidate will have a demonstrated reputation for excellence in clinical care, teaching, collegiality, mentorship and scholarship. The faculty rank will be determined by experience and will be considered for appointment as Associate Professor or Professor. The Vice Chair will be provided with the appropriate administrative time to serve in this role.

The Vice Chair for Clinical Operations will have the responsibility for oversight of all patient care delivered in the OB/Gyn Department, including the midwifery service and other advanced practice providers, ultrasound services, and inpatient and outpatient clinical programs. The Vice Chair as part of the OB/Gyn Department leadership team will work closely with the Department Chair to provide aligned leadership and strategic oversight of OB/Gyn patient-care operations of the clinical faculty and Division Directors. Through collaborative leadership, the Vice Chair will promote vitality in the departmental culture, assist with patient care planning and strategically delegate responsibilities to ensure the advancement of Department goals and clinical initiatives. The Vice Chair role includes oversight of clinical services operations, professional performance, and regulatory compliance of clinical provider practices. The Vice Chair will be accountable for ensuring service provider billings are optimal, and the clinical business performance is aligned to meet all Department and LSOM financial requirements. To sustain a culture of excellence in OB/Gyn patient care, the Vice Chair will be dedicated to ensuring performance expectations that provide the highest quality patient care and consistency in clinical care standards, driven by patient safety requirements and clinical outcomes monitoring. The Vice Chair for Clinical Operations will also serve as Chair of the OB/Gyn Department Promotion, Tenure and Appointments Committee.
