JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Tax Manager is responsible for managing corporate tax compliance, tax planning, and accounting for income taxes for the company and its subsidiaries. The role involves close collaboration with internal finance teams, external tax advisors, and service providers to ensure effective and efficient tax operations.
This position is designed with a view toward succession for the current VP-level Director of Tax. Initially, the candidate will serve as a mid-level manager responsible for hands-on operations and team leadership, while gaining the experience necessary to eventually assume higher leadership responsibilities.

JOB SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Tax Compliance & Planning
- Manage and oversee federal, state, and international tax filings, including preparation, review, and submission of supporting documentation.
- Monitor and interpret tax law changes to maintain compliance and identify tax-saving opportunities.
- Develop strategies for responding to tax audits and coordinate practical responses.
- Collaborate with external tax advisors to develop tax strategies and enhance overall group tax efficiency.
- Evaluate and refine tax reporting processes to improve operational efficiency and accuracy.
- Develop internal tax awareness programs and compliance policies to reduce company-wide tax risk.
- Support M&A tax due diligence and provide input on tax-efficient deal structuring
Talent Management & Succession Planning
- Supervise and mentor tax staff, providing technical guidance and performance feedback.
- Work alongside the current VP to facilitate a smooth transition and progressively assume leadership responsibilities.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain complete and open lines of communication with other personnel, function, or department to facilitate operations and interaction in the organization.
- Keep EVP informed of status and progress, ensuring that regular and periodical communication takes place.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks and keeping abreast of industry trends and related compliance issues within the area of responsibilities.
- Maintain professional conduct, attendance, and high ethical standards in the workplace, complying with company's policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by supervisor or management.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 7 to 10 years of experience: professional tax experience with a combination of both public accounting firms and corporate tax departments on corporate and partnership income tax reporting, research and planning.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Taxation is required.
- Master's Degree in Taxation is preferred.
- CPA is required.
- Advance Technical Knowledge and Skills in Taxation, Tax Research, Financial Accounting, Tax Software, Tax Research Tool, and MS Excel (complex spreadsheet, database) is required.
- Intermediate Technical Knowledge and skills in MS Word, Power Point, Outlook, is required.

Physical Demands
- Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing, walking, grasping, and lifting/moving up to 15 pounds (e.g. in order to shred documents, to maintain a neat and organized work environment, and to lift paper supplies, and large boxes and files).
- Ability to read printed materials and written information on a computer screen is required.
Business Travel and Work Hours
- Business Travel: Minimal
- May be required to work beyond normal business hours including nighttime or weekend (e.g. teleconference with counterparts of Japan parent company) as business needs dictate.
