Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Estimator to join our team, specializing in the manufacturing and assembly of custom trailers, displays, and vehicles. This role is critical in providing accurate cost estimates for projects across multiple industries, including commercial, retail, medical, military, industrial, and marketing. The Senior Project Estimator will work closely with sales, engineering, and production teams to develop precise cost estimates, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Position Title: Senior Project Estimator
Location: St. Charles, MO
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Estimator to join our team, specializing in the manufacturing and assembly of custom trailers, displays, and vehicles. This role is critical in providing accurate cost estimates for projects across multiple industries, including commercial, retail, medical, military, industrial, and marketing. The Senior Project Estimator will work closely with sales, engineering, and production teams to develop precise cost estimates, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Analyze and develop solutions/methods for multi-trade, mechanical, architectural, and electrical portions of bid proposals.
- Analyze project requirements, specifications, and technical drawings to identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and compliance.
- Calculate estimates that work for highly customized, multi-purpose, fixed & mobile, and multi-trade constructed assets.
- Organize, schedule, prioritize, plan, and prepare estimates that are competitive and address risk factors such as material availability, labor constraints, and manufacturing challenges.
- Collaborate and communicate closely with the Estimating team, Sales, Business Development, Engineering, Production, and other departments.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates of all direct costs for materials, production hours, design hours, and project management.
- Quickly generate and provide Rough Order of Magnitude conceptual estimates from provided renderings.
- Document key assumptions, overall estimate logic, risk considerations and approach to estimates.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotes with Purchasing Team to fulfill requirements and scope of work.
- Collaborate to ensure that estimated, selected, and supplied material meet local/state/federal specifications for applications.
- Document department SOPs in corporate wiki site and assist in training new hires.
- Review scope of incoming projects for completeness and to identify problem issues.
- Serve as acting team leader in the absence of the department manager by reviewing peer estimates, providing mentorship and managing the Quote Log to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Continuously improve estimating methodologies, tools, and cost analysis procedures to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma and/or equivalent.
- Technical degree or equivalent experience, training, and professional certifications.
- Minimum of 7 years' experience as a multi-trade estimator or designer with responsibility for detailed project costing.
- Strong understanding of metal fabrication, woodworking, electrical systems, HVAC, and finishing processes related to custom-built products.
- Experience with estimating software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel for cost analysis and quoting.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to break down complex projects into detailed cost components.
- Ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining accuracy.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and other technical documentation
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Products, Outlook, Word and Excel
- Must demonstrate a consistent and stable work history, along with strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical degree or bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Construction Management or related skilled trade.
- Experience in mutli-trade construction, specialty industrial process equipment, mechanical contracting, infrastructure estimation and commercial construction environments.
- Knowledge of estimating electrical, electronics and audio-visual systems.
- Experience using and/or modifying CPQ configurator software and tools.
Physical Requirements:
- Sitting, standing, and walking in office, warehouse, and manufacturing environments.
- Must have the ability to hear and respond to auditory signals, distinguish tones and pitches in equipment, and use hearing protection during specific tasks.
- Ability to climb in and out of trailers, scaffolding and up ladders.
- Ability to bend, lift, and position self to move about the office, as needed.
- Required use of fingers and hands to operate a computer.
- Vision abilities required by this job include close and/or color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to travel at least up to 2%.
