The AWS Energy Team works across AMER to supply reliable and carbon free energy to our data centers. The team is seeking a results-orientated individual to join as a Transmission Systems Manager. In this role you will lead transmission planning activities that allow AWS to identify sites for renewable energy projects and power supply opportunities for existing and future AWS data centers. This role provides an opportunity for a technically minded individual to further advance their career within the clean energy sector.
As a Transmission Systems Manager you will manage a portfolio of power flow analysis, due diligence and transmission studies using industry tools and in partnership with engineering consultants. The successful candidate will possess strong project management and communication skills and an ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (Energy, Legal, Finance, Supply Strategy, Real Estate and Capacity Planning) on reporting status, issues, opportunities and key risks across a portfolio of power projects.
Key job responsibilities
1.\tBuild, develop and maintain transmission planning models to support Amazon's energy growth strategies.
2.\tConduct in-house power flow transmission studies, generation de-activation and addition results.
3.\tAnalyze and mitigate transmission constraints in collaboration with internal teams (Energy, Procurement, Operations, Field Engineering) and external stakeholders (Utilities, RTOs).
4.\tPerform technical due diligence assessments on power connection options, evaluating costs, timelines, and key risks for proposed power projects.
5.\tAggregate and manage datasets from multiple sources to provide comprehensive insights on energy projects, supporting decision-making in renewable energy integration and load capacity planning.
6.\tCoordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of transmission planning with Amazon's overall energy strategy.
7.\tManage relationships with consultants and external partners through various contractual documents and agreements.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
1.\tBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field.
2.\t3+ years of power systems engineering, transmission planning, or related field experience.
3.\tProficiency in power system analysis software (e.g., PSS/E, PSLF, PowerWorld,TARA).
4.\tStrong understanding of power system principles, including load flow, short circuit, and stability analyses.
5.\tFamiliarity with NERC and regional reliability standards and planning criteria.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1.\tMaster's degree in Electrical Engineering with focus on Power Systems.
2.\t3-5 years of transmission planning and generation interconnection studies experience for utility planning or with a power generation developer.
3.\tKnowledge of renewable energy integration challenges and solutions in power systems.
4.\tStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
5.\tExcellent communication skills and experience in facilitating technical meetings with diverse stakeholders.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,300/year in our highest geographic market.
