Responsibilities

As the Operations Coordination Center Operator Shift Commander for Related Hudson Yards Campus, the Shift Commander is posted in the Operations Coordination Center (OCC) and is responsible for the enforcement of all Related Hudson Yards OCC Security Program policies, procedures and protocols as approved by the Director of the OCC. The Shift Commander directly supervises OCC personnel and is the highest-ranking OCC representative assigned to the OCC when the DOCC is not present. The Shift Commander receives policy and protocol instruction and recommendations from the DOCC and ensures program compliance by OCC personnel. The Shift Commander is the primary point of contact and coordination for Property Management and manages change events to limit vulnerabilities to the Campus created by the dynamics of operations. The Shift Commander has the authority to implement short-term strategic program changes in response to a changing site conditions unilaterally, however long-term strategic policy changes must be approved by the DOCC.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • The Shift Commander will have direct operational discretion to make protocol and procedural adjustments to respond to immediate threat conditions and will ensure the DOCC is made aware of these implementations for final approval if they are to become permanent or long term.
  • The Shift Commander will promptly report issues to the DOCC/ Related Hudson Yards Security team which may potentially impact and/or require coordination with Related Property Management (RPM). Examples of such include, but are not limited to gate and newsworthy incidents, and labor demonstrations/strikes.
  • The Shift Commander will be expected to perform forensic review and download of archived video upon request in response to incidents and/or specific requests from the Related Hudson Yards Security Management team.
  • The Shift Commander will be required to maintain a high level of proficiency on the Campus mass notification system, and their role in the Crisis Communications Program.
  • The Shift Commander will receive information/intelligence from field HY Security Personnel/Corporate Security at the as well as from the RPM to ensure OCC personnel are aware of and acting in accordance with the overall strategic security direction.
  • The Shift Commander will also have the authority and responsibility to adjust Post Orders to respond to changing conditions on the campus; absent exigent circumstances.
  • The Shift Commander will promptly report issues with campus/OCC security equipment/systems and coordinate with the manager of IT Security to ensure equipment maintenance, upgrades and service is strategically prioritized to address conditions at the campus.

Compensation:

$98,000 - 101,800/yr

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (Security, Criminal Justice, Computer Science, or related field) preferred AND 5+ years Cyber/Physical Security Incident Response, Security Operations Center with demonstrated experience in a mission-critical environment:
  • Surveillance operations, emergency dispatch center management.
  • Global mass notification platforms and systems.
  • Corporate Traveler's program.

Alternatively, 8+ years Cyber/Physical Security Incident Response, Security Operations Center and/or and demonstrated experience in a mission-critical environment:
  • Surveillance operations, emergency dispatch center management.
  • Global mass notification platforms and systems.
  • Corporate Traveler's program.
  • 40 hours, the position covers midnights and weekends, with a 12 hour shift every Saturday.
