Are you passionate about using AI to transform how people develop their careers? We're seeking an experienced ML/AI scientist to work on innovative talent science products at Career Choice, Amazon's flagship education benefit program.

You'll develop cutting-edge models drawing from algorithmic fairness, NLP, supervised and unsupervised learning, recommendation systems, graph ML, and reinforcement learning. Working with rich datasets spanning employee career trajectories, educational outcomes, and labor market trends, you'll help shape the future of career development at Amazon.

This role offers high visibility to senior Amazon business leaders and involves close collaboration with scientists, engineers, and product teams to bring ML models into production. You'll help solve high-impact problems in People Experience and Technology, with opportunities to patent and publish your contributions.

About the team

Career Choice Technology team is building AI-powered solutions including:

- Personalized career pathway recommendations

- Skill gap analysis and learning recommendations

- Labor market trend prediction

- Fair ML models for career guidance

- Large-scale recommendation systems

- Graph-based skill networks

- Reinforcement learning for career optimization

- NLP models for educational content understanding

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of building models for business application experience

- PhD, or Master's degree and 4+ years of CS, CE, ML or related field experience

- Experience in patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals

- Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language

- Experience in any of the following areas: algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, high-performance computing

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience using Unix/Linux

- Experience in professional software development

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
