Job Description
Job Title: X-Ray Technologist

Job Specialty: Radiology

Shift: 4pm-12am, Every Other Weekend (EOW) 4pm-12am, EOW 5x8 Hr

Guaranteed Hours: 40.00 hours per week

Experience: No experience required

License: New York State Licensed Radiologic Technologist (L.R.T)

Certifications: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT Certified)

Must-Have: Competency in performing diagnostic procedures, excellent communication skills in a team environment, quality focus, planning, people skills, dependability, creating a safe and effective environment

Job Description:

- Operate or oversee operation of radiologic and magnetic imaging equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes.
- Prepare patients for radiological procedures by positioning them, adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment into specified positions, and adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
- Minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, and patient shielding.
- Adhere to established infection control policies and procedures.
- Maintain production and quality of radiographs by following established standards and procedures.
- Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records, including the completion and verification of exams.
- Ensure operation of radiology equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Maintain radiology supplies inventory by checking stock and anticipating needed supplies.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Stay informed on professional and technical knowledge by maintaining regulatory Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements, attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
- Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Complete yearly Age-Specific Competency and other relevant duties as assigned.
