Position Summary:
The Associate Director, Intensive Care Unit is responsible for the daily twenty-four (24) hour planning, organizing, directing and controlling of the daily operations and clinical practice of assigned employees, in order to provide quality, individualized patient care and support of Cedars Sinai Marina del Rey Hospital (CSMDRH) and Cedars Sinai System philosophies. The Associate Director, ICU assumes fiscal responsibility through preparation of budget, serves as liaison with medical staff and other personnel, promotes the maximum growth and development of each employee, supports research, participates in strategic planning, both long and short term, and assures patient advocacy. The Associate Director, ICU guides nursing staff in the provision of nursing care consistent with Nursing Standards of Care/Practice, the Plan for Provision of Nursing Care, The Plan for Provision of Patient Care, CSMDRH Code of Conduct, the Performance Improvement Plan, the Patient Education Plan and Professional Organization Standards.
The Associate Director, ICU maintains competency skills including the ability to provide care to special patient populations and patients with diverse cultural backgrounds. Responsible for assuring staff competency in provision of age related patient care. Identifies safety concerns and institute measures to provide a safe environment and provide appropriate assessment, intervention and evaluation of patients with consideration of developmental milestones in the adolescent, adult and geriatric patient population.
Our Intensive Care Unit is a 12 bed Medical and Respiratory MICU caring for patients with acute medical issues such as sepsis, GI bleeding, post code blue and respiratory issues. On this unit, our registered nurses typically have a 1:2 ratio and 1:1 ratio patients that meet the criteria. Each room has a HEPA filter, PAPRS readily available and RNs receive a new N95 mask per day, as needed.

Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
- Minimum of an Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- Master's Degree preferred
License/Certifications:
- CA state RN license required
- Professional certifications required: Patient Safety, leadership, and/or nursing practice
- Basic Life Support required
Experience:
- Minimum of 8 years RN clinical experience
- Minimum of 5 years management/supervisory experience
- Working knowledge of Nursing Practice Act, The Joint Commission and other state and local regulatory requirements.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills. And has full command (verbal and written) of the English language.
- Knowledgeable and proficient in the use of health care technology within specialty area.
