Job Overview
As a Senior Software Engineer, in the Customer Identity & Access Management (CIAM) domain, you will be at the forefront of defining and implementing a technical strategy to provide delightful and secure customer authentication and authorization capabilities to applications and services across T-Mobile Digital and Assisted channels. You will work closely with business, product and application teams across T-Mobile to, as well as with key stakeholders in Cybersecurity to understand the needs and opportunities that exist to improve the customer experience and security of T-Mobile customers' identity and access, in order to lead the implementation of the technology solution. You will partner closely technical teams across IT and Engineering to contribute to technical feasibility, align on solutions, and to lead development teams in the delivery of enhancements to better serve our customers and to meet security and business goals.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Leads development teams and dev practice. Identifies needs and opportunities for improvement in the sub-domain / area they own.
  • Applies planning and leadership skills to guide development planning and delivery as required to implement new systems capabilities.
  • Owns and acts as a strong advocate for a culture of quality.
  • Evangelizes, communicates and documents development standard processes as needed. Applies oversight and tooling to ensure code quality and standards are met.
  • Hands-on develops Web and API components of the authentication platform, which supports both Desktop, mobile web and mobile app flows. Unit tests new system functionality per high-level system architecture specifications.
  • Provide DevOps supportMaintains technical skills and expertise through continuing education and training.
  • Reviews low-level development plans to Design/Architects and with other technical leads to ensure technical and functional requirements are met.
  • Communicates technical impacts, implications, and level of effort, as needed for project evaluations.
  • Works with Platform Ops & SRE to ensure alignment on anticipated new transactions patterns and levels, and new platform components/CIs.
  • Performs peer reviews.
  • Collaborates with architects and other Software Engineers on low level designs and development plans.
  • Collaborate with Product and IT partner teams on successful delivery of product enhancements and support.

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or Engineering (Required)
  • 5+ years full stack web development experience including front end and back end (Required)
  • 5+ years of experience in backend API / Microservice development using Node JS or strongly correlated language.
  • 5+ years of experience in front-end web development experience using Angular, typescript, JavaScript. Experience in AEM a bonus.
  • 5+ years of experience designing and developing applications using MongoDB, MySQL, DynamoDB or other major database management system.
  • 5+ years designing database schemas, writing SQL (Required)
  • 2+ years DevOps with infrastructure as code (Required)
  • 3+ years using cloud services from AWS, Azure or GCP (Required)
  • 4+ years software engineering experience (Required)


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Expected to be able to setup a completely new full stack environment from scratch including build steps and backend infrastructure (Required)
  • Knowledge of html, CSS, Webpack, JavaScript, at least one front end framework and one backend framework (Required)
  • Understands web protocols, how full stack applications operate and data flows (Required)
  • Understanding of database modeling and SQL. Capable of performance tuning and refactoring from one data store to another (Required)
  • Experience in zero-trust security principals. Preference for experience with Identity and Access Management systems, with understanding of Auth2.0 and OpenID Connect principles.
  • Experience working in an agile / scrum environment.
  • Applies critical thinking, analysis, and data-informed decisioning
  • Good verbal and written communication in English.
  • Motivated to continue to learn new skills and able to adapt to change.

Base Pay Range: $114,200 - $206,000

Corporate Bonus Target: 15%

The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the role. The successful candidate's actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay will vary within this range.

At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee's eligible earnings in the prior year. Certain positions in Customer Care are eligible for monthly bonuses based on individual and/or team performance.
