Position Summary:

The Market Chief Operating Officer is responsible for leading and managing clinical and administrative operations, developing strategies for growth, and ensuring physician alignment. The Market COO will partner with the Practice President and work closely with all practice physicians and leaders to ensure best-in-class patient care is delivered across the division in an operationally efficient manner, including coordinating with United Urology's centralized and shared services and consistent with the company's Mission and Vision.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning
  • Creates annual operating plans that support the Company's strategic, clinical, and operating objectives.
  • Develop and monitor strategies that ensure the organization's long-term financial viability.
  • Identifies potential areas of geographic and ancillary expansion through organic growth or acquisition.
  • Oversees the development of local annual operating budgets and three-year growth strategic plans that are submitted to the Executive Committee, Management Services Organization (MSO) leadership, and Board of Directors for approval.
  • Owns and drives for the local market and the MSO at all times the execution against the three-year growth strategic plan.


Management and Operational Administration
  • Becomes the leading channel of communication between the MSO and the practice Executive Committee and physicians.
  • Owns and manages the market's P&L to ensure achievement of financial and operational budget and goals.
  • Measures the market's performance against KPIs and internal and external benchmarks to identify opportunities for improvement and best-demonstrated practices.
  • Manages staffing ratios and labor dollars while also ensuring that the organization has the appropriate complement of trained clinical and administrative staff to accomplish its vision and objectives and maintains staff retention rates within set target goals.
  • Initiates, implements and monitors activities to advance quality, improve customer service, including customer net promoter scores, and increase staff productivity.
  • Provides all staff with strong leadership, team building, and role modeling, including identification and coaching of high performers and high potential teammates and active coaching and management of underperforming teammates.
  • Promotes an environment to ensure that all clinical services provided are by standards of practice and all federal, state, and local regulatory guidelines.
  • Ensures that strategic objectives appropriately align with existing and anticipated federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Creates a framework to ensure that individual and corporate performance is evaluated regularly.
  • Assures that effective financial controls are in place and maintained to ensure company assets' safety and stability.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, or Healthcare Administration required and will be verified prior to employment. A master's degree is strongly preferred.
  • Ten (10) years of senior management experience with progressive experience in business planning and budgetary and personnel management.
  • Experience in operations management in a multi-site healthcare delivery system or hospital setting is required.
  • A successful history of collaborative leadership of a management team to achieve strategic objectives as well as to ensure quality services and compliance with relevant contractual and regulatory requirements.


Travel:

  • Will require frequent travel within the market and occasional overnight travel.


Knowledge, Competencies & Skills:

  • Superior leadership, strategic thinking, operational expertise, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptionally well-organized and superior written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to foster positive and collaborative environments.
  • Proficient computer (excel, PowerPoint) skills.
  • Exceptional business and financial acumen.


Physical Requirements for the Job:

  • Able to sit, stand, and or walk throughout the day.
  • Intermittently required to stoop, bend, speak, and listen.
  • Frequently lift and or move up to ten pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five pounds.
