Job Description
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is an expert clinician who may practice in a specialty area with expertise in teaching, mentoring, consulting, research, management, and systems improvement. The clinical nurse specialist influences outcomes by providing expert consultation to all care providers and by implementing improvements in health care delivery systems.

Required Qualifications:

• Master's Degree from a clinical nurse specialist program accredited by a recognized accreditation body, or
• Ph.D. from a clinical nurse specialist program accredited by a recognized accreditation body, or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), or
• Currently enrolled in a Master's, DNP, or Ph.D. clinical nurse specialist program accredited by a recognized accreditation body, or
• Equivalent coursework and experience will be considered (e.g., Master's in Nursing or Doctoral degree in Nursing that did not major in the CNS role, such as those focused on Nursing Administration or Nursing Education).
• 3 years of registered nursing experience in the area of specialty.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Current certification as a CNS
• Current certification in the area of specialty
• 2 years of clinical leadership responsibility
