Job Summary:
The Department of Family Medicine is seeking a dynamic and experienced Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to lead, manage and support the clinical and administrative functions of the APP workforce. The APP Director will oversee the recruitment, development and performance of APPs within the department, ensuring that high-quality, patient-centered care is provided. This individual will work closely with faculty, clinical teams and leadership to promote clinical excellence, integrate APPs into the overall care model and advance the strategic goals of the department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership and Oversight Provide strategic direction and leadership for the APP workforce within the Department of Family Medicine.
Oversee daily operations of the APP team, ensuring adequate performance and alignment with department objectives.
Participate in regular staff rounding to identify opportunities for improvement and enhance provider engagement.
Foster a collaborative and supportive environment for APPs, promoting professional development and job satisfaction.
Coordinate with department leadership to ensure integration of APPs into care delivery models and optimize patient care.
Clinical Support and Coordination Assist in ensuring APPs provide high-quality, safe, and evidence-based care to patients in Family Medicine settings.
Act as a resource for clinical questions and challenges faced by APPs, facilitating continuous learning and improvement.
Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare providers to ensure holistic, coordinated care for patients.
Monitor patient outcomes and quality metrics to ensure APPs are meeting the department's performance standards.
Recruitment and Retention Lead efforts for the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of new APPs.
Develop and implement retention strategies for the APP workforce to ensure long-term success and satisfaction.
Engage in the professional growth and career development of APPs through mentorship, training, and performance evaluations.
Administrative and Operational Duties Develop and maintain APP policies and procedures in alignment with departmental, institutional, and regulatory standards.
Collaborate with leadership to monitor and manage budgets related to the APP workforce, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and efficiently.
Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and other institutional activities as necessary.
Collaboration and Communication Serve as a liaison between APPs and other members of the healthcare team, fostering open lines of communication.
Collaborate with clinical leadership, educational teams, and administrative staff to improve workflows and enhance patient care delivery.
Represent the interests of the APP workforce within the Department of Family Medicine and institution.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
Education:o Master's degree in nursing from an accredited school or graduate of an accredited physician assistant program
o Board Certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA)
Experience:o Minimum of 5 years of experience in a clinical role, with a preference for experience in Family Medicine or primary care.
o Prior leadership experience within an APP workforce or clinical environment is highly preferred.
Licensure: Current Texas Physician Assistant license or Texas APRN license
Skills:o Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership abilities.
o Ability to drive change, improve outcomes, and build consensus across departments.
