THE POSITION AND THE DEPARTMENT
The Director of Marketing is responsible for directing the marketing functions for Normandale Community College, including advertising, graphic design, and website; development of publications, brochures, pamphlets, newsletters, presentations, posters, and other marketing/outreach materials; leading strategic planning for the Marketing Department in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders that include Normandale Community College faculty, staff, students, MinnState, the State of Minnesota, and the regional and national public; advising college leadership on marketing strategies; and developing and leading the implementation of annual marketing and advertising plans that align with the college's strategic goals and effectively reach internal and external audiences. The Director serves on department and agency-wide teams that further the mission, vision, values, and strategy of the department and the college.
As a leader of the Marketing Department, the Director supervises three professional staff, manages consultants, serves as a member of the Advancement Division's management team, and develops and monitors annual department work plans and budgets. The Director oversees the development and maintenance of policies, procedures, and methods that help ensure effective department operations and communication of the college's brand promise.
This position will actively advance the college's strategic goals, including to achieve equity in educational outcomes and to support a culturally responsive and service-oriented culture, through individual and departmental efforts.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualufucatuins:
- Four (4) years of professional-related work experience in marketing, advertising, enrollment/admissions, communications, or other related field as a director, manager, or other leadership role. A master's degree may substitute for two years of experience, a bachelor's degree may substitute for one year of experience, an associate degree may substitute for 6 months of experience.
- Experience in supervising and leading staff.
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA's) that will be interviewed for include:
- Knowledge of marketing requirements for a higher education institution, public, or non-profit organization.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, or a related field.
- Previous experience leading marketing and/or communications efforts in a higher education institution, preferably 2-year community colleges.
- Broad working knowledge of educational trends, liberal arts, and technical program curriculum, and admissions procedures.
- Demonstrated experience in marketing management, research and planning, strategic marketing and advertising conceptual development, tactical implementation, and delivery systems.
