The Position
Housing Services Director
The City of Ontario, California is seeking a dynamic and strategic Housing Services Director to lead efforts in expanding affordable housing, addressing homelessness, and fostering sustainable community growth. The Director will oversee an approximate FY 2025 budget of $7 million and a team of 23 staff. They will drive innovative housing solutions, policy development, and key partnerships with community organizations, government agencies, and stakeholders. This role requires a visionary leader with deep expertise in housing programs and regulatory frameworks, who can balance high-level strategy with hands-on leadership. With a focus on collaboration, innovation, and long-term impact, the Director will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of housing in Ontario. Qualification Guidelines
Qualified candidates will possess any combination of education and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position may include:
Education
Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Planning, Economics, or a related field.
Experience
Ten years of progressively responsible experience in housing or redevelopment programs, grant administration, and related community services and programs including three years of considerable experience in a supervisory capacity
Desirable
Master's degree in Public Administration, Planning, Architecture or a related field.
