The Opportunity
BC Ferries is embarking on an exciting transformation journey. As we seek to improve experiences for our customers and employees; increase reliability while maintaining affordability, technology is a key enabler to this journey. We are seeking a SharePoint Solutions Designer to join our team.
As the subject matter expert on SharePoint, you are responsible for the development, architecture, deployment, support and maintenance of the Microsoft SharePoint content management platform technology and methodologies. This includes installing, configuring, and upgrading SharePoint systems both on premise and on M365 environments.

What you bring to the team
You have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or related discipline and/or significant related experience. You have extensive experience designing and implementing SharePoint applications and Microsoft Server products, such as Project Server, Microsoft Power BI, Nintex forms and workflows, and InfoPath forms.
You have demonstrated experience in the planning, evaluation, implementation, and validation of new and emerging technologies in the Microsoft technology stack.

Additional information
The target salary range: $102,200 - $127,700 per annum. The starting salary is determined based on the successful candidate's knowledge, experience and internal equity. Starting salary may exceed the target range on exceptional basis.

As the subject matter expert on SharePoint, you are responsible for the development, architecture, deployment, support and maintenance of the Microsoft SharePoint content management platform technology and methodologies. This includes installing, configuring, and upgrading SharePoint systems both on premise and on M365 environments.
The Role
Reporting to the Director, Enterprise Application, you add value by key areas of oversight such as:
- Working with a wider IT team and key stakeholders to design and develop solutions to address business needs and opportunities, and propose changes that would make the SharePoint environment a more effective solution;
- Implementing security improvements by assessing current situation, evaluating trends, and anticipating requirements;
- Ensuring SharePoint functionality, updating the software as necessary, and addressing and resolving any issues with the software performance;
- Meeting with business stakeholders and refine requirements for requests;
- Providing training and troubleshooting of user reported issues and assist in resolving with other members of the team where necessary;
- Implementing SharePoint templates, branding, master pages, templates, timer jobs, Office online documents, and reports;
- Executing and leading SharePoint migrations, including applying updates and patches to SharePoint farm as necessary;
- Maintaining work operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes;
- Supporting the installation, configuration, security, operation, and maintenance of all web portal servers, equipment, and software related to SharePoint infrastructure;
- Providing technical guidance to the team in the technologies related to the development and support of an Enterprise SharePoint environment (understanding relationship with active directory, SQL, IIS, etc);
- Providing technical leadership in large enterprise content management solution with integration to business systems;
- Reviewing designs on projects, which integrate Enterprise applications with the Content Repository, and proactively identifies opportunities where changes to records management can improve usability and performance of the applications;
