Summary:

• Create and establish designs in accordance with customer specifications, industry standards, existing designs and company standards.
• Review the scope of work for assigned projects and lead the civil/structural design tasks for the project.
• Perform preliminary and advanced work in developing working layouts and final drawing deliverables for foundations, concrete structures, structural steel, masonry and wood (plans, elevations sections and details).
• Utilize existing drawings sketches, 3D models, prototypes or verbal instruction for new and existing designs.
• Check design drawings and specifications including layout, form, fit, function, materials, specification callouts, geometric, dimensioning and other output.
• Provide technical oversight of other members of design department. Mentor/supervise other designers and drafters.
• Leads the technical design effort that may include up to three designers or drafters.
• Apply industry-standard drafting techniques to generate and interpret drawings in support of assigned projects and provide guidance and leadership to drafters to ensure that all established Company and client design standards and practices are followed.
• Interact with vendors, customers and other departments to obtain design parameters and to coordinate designs.
• Participate in engineering and general design reviews as required.
• Estimate drafting hours for civil/structural scope of services for proposals.
• Keep supervisor advised of work status, work load, problems, and progress as related to work assignments.

Education/Experience Requirements
Associate's degree in CAD, drafting or related field and 15 years of experience
Experience with heavy industrial projects including Steel Mills, Chemical Plants, Material Handling, and Oil & Gas processing facilities
Previous experience working in a 3D CAD environment required
Previous experience with AutoCAD, Advanced Steel, Plant3D, and/or Revit strongly preferred
Previous experience with Navisworks Manage
General computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, Bluebeam)
Previous experience directing the daily activities of other designers preferred
Read and interpret documents such as customer reports, specifications and government standards.
Write routine reports and correspondence.
Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Calculate component and assembly weight, area, volume and circumference.
Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
