THE POSITION

Are you a seasoned information technology (IT) professional who possesses excellent leadership skills? The Office of Information Technology within the Office of Administration is seeking a diligent Network Administrator 2 to serve as a supervisor for the Office Telephony Services Section of the Network, Unified Telecom, and Security Operations Division. This professional plays a key role in managing and supporting the telecommunication infrastructure that serves over 80,000 Commonwealth employees. Reporting directly to the Office Telephony Section Chief, you will be a critical contributor responsible for the development, management, and support of all telecom platforms used across Commonwealth facilities and leveraged by home-based and teleworking staff. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Network Administrator 2, you will supervise a team, emphasizing collaboration, professional growth, and fostering a people-first culture. You will assist in implementing strategies to enhance telephony services and support remote work capabilities while overseeing day-to-day operations to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient telephony services across diverse platforms. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders to align telephony solutions with the Commonwealth's operational needs. Additionally, you will promote continuous improvement and a customer-centric approach to service delivery, ensuring the needs of a large, distributed workforce are consistently met.

You will be responsible for managing all telecom platforms utilized in Commonwealth facilities and by remote staff. This includes a strong grasp of unified communications, specifically Microsoft Teams, Voice over IP (VoIP), Private Branch Exchanges (PBX), Key Systems, analog solutions, audio-visual systems, conferencing equipment, and cable TV services provided by Commonwealth Media Services.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year of experience as a Network Administrator 1, Telecommunications Administrator, or Radio Telecommunications Supervisor (Commonwealth job titles or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of information technology experience that includes three years of technical experience in network operation or network maintenance involving installing, updating, and maintaining inter-network systems and managing information technology projects, and an associate's degree in any information technology field; or
  • Six years of information technology experience that includes three years of technical experience in network operation or network maintenance involving installing, updating, and maintaining inter-network systems and managing information technology projects; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes three years of technical experience in network operation or network maintenance involving installing, updating, and maintaining inter-network systems and managing information technology projects.

  • This particular position requires three or more years of full-time professional experience providing IT support, including troubleshooting, maintaining, and enhancing unified communications and voice systems.
