Job Schedule: 9/80: Employees work 9 out of every 14 days - totaling 80 hours worked - and have every other Friday off.
Job Description:
This person will contribute to the company's success by creating PCB layout designs from electrical schematics and mechanical design files to support the development of the most advanced radio communication equipment in the world for the military and first responders. The PCB Designer will effectively utilize design tools deployed at the company to create and improve rigid, rigid-flex, and flexible printed circuit boards using the latest board technologies including fine lines and spaces, microvias, stacked microvias, via-in-pad, etc.
This role reports to the PCB Design Manager and is responsible for successfully designing PCB assemblies and optimizing the electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing requirements to achieve all functional, quality, and cost objectives. This role will mentor less experienced designers on PCB software and layout processes and techniques. They will provide strategic direction on tools and processes to ensure continued advancement in PCB layout design capabilities. And they will assist electrical engineers with using the schematic capture and part library software.
Essential Functions:
Provide technical leadership within the PCB Design discipline.
Utilize Mentor PADS software.
Resolve fabrication, assembly, and test issues identified through Valor NPI fabrication and manufacturing checks.
Create PCB stackups using Polar Speedstack and model-controlled impedance with Polar Si9000.
Mentor new and less experienced designers in layout design methodologies by PCB type, e.g., digital, RF, analog, power supply.
Create and maintain PCB layout design guidelines.
Participate in peer design reviews of PCB layouts.
Support the assessment and implementation of PCB design software upgrades.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant PCB Design experience.
Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related PCB Design experience.
In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related PCB Design experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Knowledge of the PCB design value chain: schematics, materials, fabrication, assembly, and related design and simulation software tools
Knowledge of SMT and through-hole electronic components and packages
Experience working directly with multiple engineering disciplines and functions, e.g., electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, supply chain, purchasing, etc.
Experience with PCB design software, e.g., PADS, Xpedition, Cadence, Valor, etc.
Experience working with a PLM tool, e.g., Agile, Teamcenter, etc.
Proficient with Microsoft Office tools: Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams
Enjoy the challenge of solving complex puzzles and creating challenging layout design solutions
Excellent attention to detail.
