The University of Maryland School of Nursing (UMSON) is seeking a full-time Assistant Professor in the department of Organizational Systems and Adult Health to contribute to the instruction of Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) students within core coursework in Evidence Based Practice, course management of DNP projects, and clinical course work such as pharmacology and health assessment. This position will focus on delivering consistent, high quality, course content and competency-based education to BSN to DNP and post-master's DNP students. Applicants should have expertise in evidence-based practice and quality improvement.

UMSON enrolls more than 2,000 students in its baccalaureate, master's, and doctoral programs. UMSON is part of the University of Maryland graduate professional campus that also includes the schools of medicine, dentistry, law, pharmacy, and social work. Its interdisciplinary graduate school has more than 40 programs in biosciences, law, and social work, and is one of the fastest growing biomedical research centers in the nation. The unique composition of the campus enables health professionals to address clinical care, public policy, and social issues through multidisciplinary research, scholarship, and community action. Its location in the Baltimore-Washington, D.C.-Annapolis triangle maximizes opportunities for collaboration with government agencies, health care institutions, and life science industries.

Essential Functions:

Develop, organize, deliver, and evaluate DNP core courses and precepted practicum experiences that focus on quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and health care policy.

Use principles of competency-based education for educating students.

Advise and mentor students.

Participate in a program of scholarship.

Contributes to faculty governance and service to the nursing profession.

Other duties as assigned.

Hiring Range: $122,000

Qualifications

  • Earned Doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, or DNP)
  • Current Registered Nurse license to practice in the state of Maryland
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing faculty experience
  • Experience with evidence-based practice and quality improvement is required
  • Certification as an advanced practice nurse is preferred
