We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join our finance team in Vancouver. In this role, you will play a key part in maintaining the financial integrity of the company, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting, and supporting the accounting team in day-to-day operations. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong accounting background who is looking to take on increased responsibility and contribute to the financial health of a growing organization.

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join our finance team in Vancouver. In this role, you will play a key part in maintaining the financial integrity of the company, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting, and supporting the accounting team in day-to-day operations. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong accounting background who is looking to take on increased responsibility and contribute to the financial health of a growing organization.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Oversee, maintain and update financial records, including ledgers, journals, and accounts payable/receivable.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and assist with corporate tax filings and planning.
- Perform account reconciliations, variance analysis, and adjustments.
- Supervise AR processes, ensuring accurate billing, collections, and timely follow-up on overdue accounts. Work closely with the sales and project teams to ensure accurate invoicing and resolve any discrepancies.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial reports for management and external stakeholders.
- Participate in special projects and provide accounting support for new initiatives and business strategies.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff and ensure adherence to accounting policies and procedures.
- Supervisor billing reports for project manager markups and generate invoices for clients.
- Cross-train all finance team members' roles to provide coverage during sick leave or vacation time.
Our Must Haves:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Hold's a CPA designation is highly preferred.
- Minimum of seven years of experience in accounting, with at least three years in a senior or supervisory role.
- Experience working in a project-based environment is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
- Proficiency using project base software, ADP and advanced Excel skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy, with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Knowledge of payroll processes and procedures
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

- Experience in implementing ERP
- Experience using VantagePoint
Compensation: $85,000 - $110,000 (Depending on experience)
