Job Summary

The Senior Director, Donor Engagement represents the Memorial Hermann Foundation across the organization and in the community. This position provides leadership and collaboration on planned execution of activities for the giving society members, major gift donors, engagement events, and identifying opportunities to upgrade and steward donors. S/he works well collaboratively with other Foundation team members and achieves established goals to advance the Foundation's philanthropic support.Job Description

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field

Licenses/Certifications: (None)

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in fundraising, donor engagement, event management, stewardship or related experience with at least two years of management experience.
  • Experience in healthcare philanthropy is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Collaborative and congenial work style.
  • Evidence of effectiveness in building and sustaining relationships with donors and staff.
  • Goal oriented and a proven ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills with a high degree of professionalism.
  • Ability to work well with a variety of stakeholders and to adapt to meet varying needs.
  • Fine-tuned relationship building skills including the ability to build networks among high level donors, companies, and organizations.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to think ahead and manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products. Knowledge of Raiser's Edge is a plus.


PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Works collaboratively with Foundation team members across departments to achieve fundraising goals and deliver results in all assigned areas.
  • Increases event participation by acquiring new donors, upgrading existing donors, and cultivating and stewarding donor/major gift prospects; Conducts routine assessments to find additional opportunities for advancement.
  • Works under a dotted line to the AVP, Philanthropy to develop prospect and donor outreach plans and steps.
  • Uses data and gift information to develop custom fundraising event strategies that expand donor base and identify potential major gift donors for further cultivation.
  • Understands the process of donor development and leverages events as a tool to expand the donor base and identify potential major gift donors for further cultivation.
  • Manages and develops a targeted portfolio of donors, with concentration on event donors.
  • Leads a team of donor engagement staff.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for special event inquiries from major gift donors, corporate donors and vendor donors.
  • Manages relationships for third-party events to ensure maximum results that support Memorial Hermann.
  • Plans and manages the administration of stewardship, board and external partnership activities to ensure that all donors receive the highest quality stewardship experience.
  • In partnership with the AVP of Donor Engagement and team, plans and executes all events associated to the Foundation, including the family event, lectures, tours, dinners, and receptions.
  • Participates in and supports the fundraising initiatives of the Foundation, including special events and donor engagement activities.
  • Keeps abreast of current best practices in the development profession, continually evaluating new and emerging ideas for potential implementation at the Memorial Hermann Foundation.
  • Remains informed about developments in the competitive marketplace, especially in the Texas Medical Center and Houston nonprofit community.
  • Supports foundation-based goals that contribute to the success of the Foundation and Memorial Hermann.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff, and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity, and quality of service.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals, which contribute to the success of the organization.
  • Demonstrates commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences. Models Memorial Hermann's service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues.
